PRODUCT CARE

TABLEWARE

Tableware DurabilityOur bone and fine china products are very durable and whenproperly cared for, will last for many years. It is safe to warmyour fine bone china and fine china plates and serving dishesin the warming compartment of your oven up to 150°F. Neverplace china in contact with a direct flame or subject it toextreme temperature change. Pieces with a gold or platinumband or detail are not microwave safe. Fine bone china shouldnot be used for cooking purposes. Fine china is suitable for usein the freezer.

Washing by HandWhen washing by hand, do not use scouring pads and/orabrasive detergents. Most stains can be removed by soaking theitem in warm water before washing. Teapot and coffee potstains can be removed with Barkeepers Friend, and toothpastewill remove “pencil marks” caused by minute mineral depositsfrom cutlery.

Washing Your Tableware in a DishwasherIt is perfectly safe to wash your tableware in an automaticdishwasher – as long as you adhere to the following guidelines.Load the washer so that pieces do not touch each other, to avoid the risk of scratching. Do not overload. Wash at 149°Fmaximum – the “short wash” or “china and crystal” cycle issufficient for normal cleaning. As soon as the wash water hasdrained away, there should be an immediate rinse cycle to flushaway deposits of detergent, which will form a film if allowed todry on the ware.

Hard WaterIn hard water areas, deposits may form on your tableware over a period if the water is allowed to dry on the ware. Thesesoluble deposits can easily be removed with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water.

Storing TablewareAvoid storing plates directly on top of each other, as this may scratch the surface. Store with plate dividers or napkinsseparating each plate. A china storage protector would be theoptimum choice. Do not slide plates out from the bottom of the stack; always lift them from the top.

Enjoy Every DayOur tableware is made for everyday use. All new patterns areput through an exhaustive series of tests to ensure that colorsare as hard wearing as possible. Quality checks are constantlycarried out to monitor the ability of the ware to resist the rigorsof day-to-day use.

CRYSTAL

Fine crystal and glassware require the gentlest of care tomaintain their brilliance and integrity for years to come.

Washing by HandWhen washing by hand, avoid using scouring pads and/orabrasive detergents. To prevent spotting, combine quarter cupammonia with a mild lemon detergent. Rinse in clean waterand air dry on a rack. Clean vases and decanters by filling themhalf-full with moderately hot water, a small amount of milddetergent, two tablespoons of white vinegar or ammonia and1/2 cup uncooked rice. Swirl the rice around for a few minutesto remove residue. Rinse well with moderately hot water andair dry, upside down, on a rack. *Always hand-wash painted glassware.

Residue & Stain RemovalClean vases and decanters by filling them half-full withmoderately hot water, a small amount of mild detergent, twotablespoons of white vinegar or ammonia and 1/2 cup uncookedrice. Swirl the rice around for a few minutes to remove residue.Rinse well with moderately hot water and air dry, upside down, on a rack. Remove more stubborn stains by filling thecontainer with warm water and dropping in a denture-cleaningtablet; let it sit until the stain disappears.

Washing Crystal in the DishwasherWe do not recommend washing fine crystal or glassware in anautomatic dishwasher as overtime crystal may lose brilliance.However, if crystal and glassware must be machine washed,please exercise these precautions.

• Do not machine wash metal-accented crystal.• Use your dishwasher’s “fine crystal and china” setting. Fordishwashers without this setting, use the “air-dry only” cycle.After the cycle is complete, open the door to air dry.

• Use only half the recommended amount of cleanser, as eventhe mildest brands of automatic dishwashing detergent are abrasive.

• Ideally, lower the top dishwasher rack to accommodate theheight of your crystal.

• Space your crystal stemware on the rack so the pieces do not touch one another, since vibration during the washing and rinsing cycles can chip or crack the crystal.

Use & DurabilityRemember that fine crystal and glassware can crack or breakwhen subjected to extremes of hot and cold. Before puttingvery warm food or liquid into a crystal container, werecommend you preheat the crystal with moderately hot tapwater. Do not pour cold beverages into a pitcher or bowl that’sjust been washed with hot water. Likewise, do not wash a crystalpiece that’s just come out of the refrigerator; allow it to warmto room temperature first.

StorageAlways store your stemware upright to help prevent chipping.

2. ACCEPTANCE OF ORDERS

If We give You a quotation this does not mean We are obliged toaccept an order from You. An order for the Goods whether written,oral or transmitted by electronic or other means (including via theInternet) will only be binding on Us once We have accepted it and itwill be subject to these Terms and Conditions.

3. CANCELLATION OF ORDERS/RETURNS

(i) We reserve the right to refuse any cancellation or purportedcancellation of orders where the Goods are ready for dispatchor in the process of being made.

(ii) If You are in breach of any of your obligations under anycontract between Us and You or if any distress or execution islevied on your property or We have serious doubts about yoursolvency or creditworthiness then We may (without prejudice toany other right We may have) write to You to bring to an end orto suspend wholly or in part any contract between Us and You.

(ii) Unless otherwise previously agreed, where the Goods are forthe delivery in Great Britain (mainland), delivery occurs at Yourpremises in Great Britain (mainland).

In all other cases unless otherwise agreed delivery occurs “ExWorks” (Incoterms 2000) which at our option will be either ourfactory or our UK Distribution Centre.

(iii) We reserve the right to deliver against any order fornonstandard patterns or designs an excess or shortage up to10% of the quantity of the Goods ordered. The Goods invoicedwill be the quantity actually delivered.

(iv) We reserve the right to charge carriage for orders that have aow net sales value. You will be notified at the time of acceptanceof your order if this charge is applicable and the amount of thecharge.

(v) The Goods will be dispatched by post only when it is economicfor Us to do so or when special instructions to do so arereceived from You. Accordingly, You must issue clearinstructions if special arrangements are to be made. Asurcharge will be made for all small packages dispatched andfor all parcels posted at your request.

5. PRICES

(i) Prices are subject to change and the actual price to be paid byYou will be the price, which is current at the time when theGoods are invoiced.

(ii) If We agree to special requests from You relating to the methodof packing or the type of delivery You will be charged for anyextra costs which We incur. We will notify You at the time ofaccepting your order of the amount of any such charge.

6. PAYMENT

(i) All payments must be made, in the currency stated in theinvoice, within thirty (30) days of the date of the invoice, exceptthat payment must be made immediately if any of the eventsreferred to in condition 3 (ii) above happens.

(ii) It is an essential condition of our agreement to supply You thatYou will pay on time. If you fail to do so We are entitled withoutany liability whatsoever to treat as at an end any otheroutstanding contract then existing between Us and You. Thismeans that We are not obliged to make any further supplies even if We have already accepted your order.

(iii) Without prejudice to any other rights We may have, We maycharge You interest (both before and after any judgment) on the overdue amount from the due date until the date ofpayment at the rate of 8% per annum above Bank of Englandbase rate from time to time, (a part of a month being treated asa full month for the purpose of calculating interest).

(iv) All payments that We receive will first be used in settlement ofaccounts that have been outstanding longest and/or, at ouroption, any accumulated interest and arrears.

7. PROPERTY AND RISK

(i) From the time of delivery (as defined in condition 4 (ii) above)the Goods are at your risk. This means that You are solelyresponsible for their custody, maintenance and insurance.

(ii) Title to the Goods does not pass to You until We have receivedunconditional payment in full for all goods supplied by Us toYou at any time.

(iii) You must hold the Goods as bailee and must keep them separate and identifiable from all other goods in your possession

(iv) If You sell the Goods or any other event occurs which causes title to, or ownership of, the Goods to pass from Us then anymoney or other consideration You receive belongs to Us and You will assign it to Us. Until You do so You must hold theseproceeds of sale in a separate identified account upon trust forUs and may not mix them with other moneys or pay them intoany overdrawn accounts.

(v) If We ask You to return Goods to the value of any outstandingbalance on your account then You must immediately do so.

(vi) At any time after the due date for payment, or before the duedate for payment if We have serious doubts about your solvencyor willingness or ability to pay for the Goods, We are entitled togive notice in writing to You to pay within the time specified inthe notice the full price of any Goods which have already beendelivered to You and, if on the expiration of that period Youhave not paid the whole of the price outstanding then We areentitled to end your right to use the Goods and may require theimmediate return of any Goods delivered to You to which You do not at that time have title. You hereby grant to us a licence toenter your premises to remove the Goods.

8. LIABILITY FOR DEFECTIVE GOODS

(i) In the case of defective Goods, We will at our discretion eithercredit to You the full price paid for such Goods or will replacethem provided that:

a) the defect is proved to our reasonable satisfaction to be due to bad workmanship or materials or to negligence on our part.

b) We are advised in writing of the alleged defect as soon as possible and in any event within 48 hours of the Goods in question having been delivered to You.

c) The Goods alleged to be defective are held for our inspection or, at our discretion, are adequately repacked to prevent damage and are returned to Us in accordance with our instructions.

TERMS & CONDITIONSOF SALE

(ii) Where the price is inclusive of carriage, in the case of Goodsdamaged in transit, We will at our discretion either credit to Youthe full price paid or replace any of the Goods which are sodamaged provided that:

a) The damage is proved to our reasonable satisfaction to have occurred during transit and

b) We are advised in writing of the alleged damage as soon as possible and in any event within 48 hours of the Goods in question having been delivered to You and

c) The Goods alleged to be damaged are held for our inspection or, at our discretion, are adequately packaged to prevent further damage and are returned to Us in accordance with our instructions.

(iii) Where the price is inclusive of carriage, in the case of Goods ora consignment of Goods wholly or partially lost in transit, Wewill at our discretion either credit You with the full price paid or replace any lost Goods as soon as possible and in any eventwithin 7 days of the Goods in question having been invoiced to You.

(iv) If You receive defective Goods as part of an outstanding orderYou are not entitled to refuse to accept delivery of, or paymentfor, the remainder of the order.

(v) You will be deemed to have inspected and accepted the Goodsunless You advise Us that You have not received the Goods orthat the Goods are defective or damaged, in accordance withthe requirements of Condition 8.

(vi) We will not be liable for any direct or indirect loss (includingbut not limited to consequential or economic loss) or damageshowsoever caused other than where our negligence causespersonal injury or death.

(vii) Subject to the provisions of this condition 8 and except asrequired by law, all express or implied warranties or conditionsas to quality or fitness for any purpose of the Goods areexpressly excluded.

(viii)Except to the extent that the law prohibits any limitation on ourliability, the above is the full extent of our liability.

9. DESCRIPTIONS

(i) Every care is taken to ensure that descriptions andspecifications provided by Us are correct when given, but Wereserve the right to alter such specifications and descriptionswithout notice or liability.

(ii) Even if You have inspected a sample of the Goods such a sampleis provided solely to enable You to judge the quality of the bulk,and does not constitute a sale by sample.

10. CONSUMER SALES

No provision contained in these Terms and Conditions in any way diminishes or affects any statutory rights available to You if You arebuying as a consumer.

11. MARKETING

(i) You agree to sell the Goods as principal only.

(ii) If You are a retailer, You agree to market the Goods in such away as to support and reinforce their high quality image andreputation and to operate the highest standards of shop fittingand display for goods of this nature.

(iii) All catalogues, literature, advertisements and other promotional copy (including Internet or other electronic material)incorporating references to Us, our corporate name or ourintellectual property must be submitted to Us for writtenapproval prior to printing, use or publication. No sales may bemade by mail order, catalogue, or via the Internet without ourprior written approval.

12. SEVERABILITY AND WAIVER

(i) If any of these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, then it will be modified to the minimumextent necessary to remove the invalidity or unenforceabilityand will then be binding. All other terms will remain in fullforce and effect.

(ii) A failure by Us to exercise any right or remedy will not excludeour right to exercise such right or remedy in the future noralter the obligations which we have to each other.

13. RESALE

You will not without our prior written consent, directly or indirectlysell the Goods for resale in any country other than a Member State of the European Economic Union (the “EU”) or the European FreeTrade Associate (“EFTA”) nor actively solicit by any means (includingInternet) purchasers of the Goods, whether for resale or otherwise,in any country other than a Member State of the EU or EFTA. If youare Our appointed Agent or Distributor for a non-EU/EFTA territorythen your written agreement with Us confirming Your appointmentconstitutes Our consent for You to sell Goods and solicit business inthat territory only.

14. DELAY OR INABILITY TO SUPPLY

We will not be liable to You for any loss or damage that may arise as a result of the supply of Goods being prevented by circumstancesbeyond our control including the default of any of our suppliers.

15. APPLICABLE LAW

(i) These Terms and Conditions are to be construed in accordancewith the laws of England and all contracts governed by themwill be deemed to have been made in England.

(ii) You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts all matters regarding contracts governed by these Terms andConditions except to the extent that We invoke the jurisdictionof the Courts of any other country.

16. SPECIAL CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO CORPORATE GIFTSAND INCENTIVES

Such Goods are supplied subject to the following:

(i) They are intended for approved incentive, promotional,commemorative by You only and are not for resale to othercompanies, the general public or to your individual employees,unless otherwise agreed in writing.

(ii) If requested by Us, You shall give Us such information as Werequire regarding the intended use of the Goods. The provisionof inadequate or inaccurate information entitles Us to refuseany orders or to cancel any orders that may have been acceptedin reliance upon inaccurate information.

(iii) All advertising and promotional copy involving the Goods mustbe submitted to, and approved by Us at all stages prior topublication.

(iv) The Goods will be used for approved commercial activitieswithin member states of the EU or EFTA only unless Wespecifically agree other territories in writing.

(v) Condition 4 (iii) shall apply regarding quantity.

17. LANGUAGE

These Terms and Conditions are drafted in the English language. IfWe provide you with a version of these Terms and Conditions whichhas been translated into any other language, the English versionshall prevail.
