There are consequences for changing the law on marriage, including what it means for education. In countries where the law has changed, primary schools and high schools, includ- ing faith-based schools, have been required to teach LGBTIQ issues as part of their curriculum, with no opt-out for parents. If you want to have a say in what your kids and grandkids are taught, you need to make your voice heard! It's ok to say NO. More Info: www.coalitionformarriage.com.au Month of Prayer and Fasting for Marriage and Families – Week 4 – 22 October. This Sunday 22 October, is the fourth week of the Month of Prayer and Fasting. The prayer theme for this Sunday is: For our nation's understanding of the importance of marriage: That we will act to protect God's plan for marriage and family life. The Prayer of the Faithful for 22 October is: ―Today and throughout this week we pray for our nation's un- derstanding of the importance of marriage. Heav- enly Father, grant that all Australians develop a true understanding of the meaning and importance of marriage in our society. We pray that we will work cooperatively to ensure our nation upholds your plan for marriage and families.‖ Rosary Crusade: Our goal is to reach 1 million Rosaries dedicated for marriage. We currently have dedicated 645,803 rosaries. We need you to pray and dedicate a further 355,000 rosaries for marriage. It is very simple. Register your intention to pray at http://rosarycrusade.org.au People regis- ter the number of Rosaries they will pray for mar- riage each week. Included with this project is a palm sized prayer card that implores the interces- sion of Our Lady Help of Christians, Patroness of Australia which is prayed with each Rosary. Hope you had a wonderful week! As the clock ticks on this year, we look forward to the last six weeks of Year A. Soon it will be Novem- ber -month dedicated to praying for the Holy Souls. November brings such joy and sadness. There so much emotion to cover with All Saints and Souls Days (1 & 2/11), Remembrance Day ( 11/11/17) and Christ the King. We all know so many who we reckon have joined the house of the saints. It’s good to have a for- ward thinking on these important days prior to December and Christmas. And now the Word of God in a nutshell this week: The readings this week all focus on the one God who rules the whole world. In the 1st Reading, the Jews, who believed in one God, are shown how he is able to use unex- pected people to do his work - even the pagan king Cyrus. The Psalm is a call to worship God as the true King, ruler of Israel and of all the world: 'The Gods of the heathens are naught'. St Paul, in the 2nd Reading, also focuses on the one God, the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. It is through God's love that the people of Thessaloni- ca have received the Good News. They worked and persevered in hope, sustained by the power of the Holy Spirit. Finally, in the Gospel, we find the Pharisees and their unlikely allies, the Herodians (who accepted Roman rule), attempting to trap Jesus. Which one - God or the Roman Emperor, Caesar - was the greater? To whom should they pay their taxes? Jesus's answer was likely to upset one party or the other; however, he knows how to defuse this explosive situation. 'Give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar - and to God what belongs to God'. Perhaps this week, we might reflect on the rulers of our world, the good and the bad, and pray for them -remembering that God can work through them as he worked through Cyrus and Caesar. And pray for me too. Amen!
