We went on Wednesday (26 July) evening and handed out all these items directly to our's city's homeless and they were received with overwhelm- ing gratitude. We have already started celebrating our saint’s feast a week earlier with the school mass especially dedicated for grandpar- ents(21/7), then a simple parish mass with light refreshments in the hall (26/7), and this weekend (30/7) with the entire parish and friends and devotees of St Joachim followed by lunch and celebration in the parish hall and grounds. I firmly believe that our saint has interceded in our prayers! Who can be close to the heart of our Lord Jesus but his grandfather; and who can be more close to the Blessed Mother but her father. So, we have a great intercessor in heaven: our parish saint ST JOA- CHIM and ST ANNE. I wish all a happy parish feast day! St Joachim pray for us. This week’s readings lead us to reflect on the priceless treasures of wisdom, faith, and the Kingdom of Heaven itself. Here’s the Word of God in a nutshell this week- end: In the First Reading, Solomon does not ask for great honours or luxury goods, but simply for a discerning heart so that he can govern his people wisely. God willing- ly grants his request. WISDOM The Psalmist resolves to find the Lord and his love through obedience to his Law and his Word. OBEDIENCE In the Second Reading, Paul assures the Romans that God will turn everything to their good as he co-operates with all those who love him. Their faith will not be in vain. They will share his glory. FAITH The Gospel illustrates what the Kingdom of Heaven is like, using four short para- bles to help us reflect and understand what the Lord offers us. TREASURE Reflection: This week, then, I might want to spend some time considering God’s great gifts to me of wisdom, obedience, faith and real treasure. How do they help me bring about the Kingdom of Heaven on earth for the people around me, espe- cially for those who are searching for the Lord? 28th July 2017 The Parishioners of St Joachim wish our beloved Parish Priest Fr Eduardo Orilla a very Happy Birthday & Many Happy Returns.
