Go with joy! We are ready to welcome God’s Most Precious One. Go with joy! We are prepared to welcome the Prince of Peace. Go with joy! We understand that from darkness, light will shine forth. Above all, go with love! We realise that God’s love in Christ, is for us, and for all humankind. It made no sense – unless you know God. Go back two thousand years. A teen girl hears God‘s call. She lives in a culture where young women are viewed as men‘s property. She lives in a region, Galilee, looked down on by the rest of Israel. Yet God chose her to change the world by bearing Jesus. It made no sense – unless you know God. Mary must have known her Jewish scripture. She must have grown up learning that she could trust God‘s love, trust it enough to risk her life by agree- ing to bear Jesus as an unwed mother. You can trust this God as well. You might think you can‘t make a difference. Trust God and risk a try. You might feel unlovable at times. Trust God and reach out for the friends God will put in your life. You might think you can‘t take tough stands for what‘s right. Trust God and feel holy strength fill you. The Word of God in a nutshell: The readings come to us on the very Eve of Christmas. We celebrate the secret hidden for all ages, revealed in the birth of the Christ, the son of Mary (2nd Reading). The Gospel retells that wonderful account of the angel coming to Mary with good news. It would be through her that the ‗impossible‘ plan of God would unfold. The virgin would conceive and give birth to the Son of God and successor to King David. As we welcome the birth of our Sav- iour into our lives, let us allow his light and peace to shine on those around us, even our enemies (or made us their enemies.)
