The reason behind the idea.

• The idea of holistic health has always existed but its high time for us to consider working towards it CONSCIOUSLY AND DELIBERATELY failing which we will end up weakening it UNKNOWINGLY AND UN INTENTIONALLY.

The reasons…..

• Physical health can detoriate due to changing life styles, food and work habits

• Emotional health can worsen if stress is not addressed at work or in life

• Finances need to be handled as jobs become more insecure and money is loosing value due to inflation

• Social health needs to be looked into as social networking is replacing real networking and FB likes are representative of ones popularity and social acceptability. After all we cant live a life sitting In front of a smart phone or a computer.

• Spiritual health is related to one becoming aware about himself and the pursue the process of identifying himself with the true self. Be able to lead a life filled with Joy, Compassion, love, Integrity.

• Mental health will be affected if other health's are not in order

Now its high time that we look at health from all directions after all its one life for all. !

Following is an attempt to provide guidelines to set goals for achieving this holistic health.

Physical HealthGoals can be in the direction of 1. Reduction in body weight2. Increase in stamina ( ability to walk/run in terms of time or distance3. Reduction in waist line4. Improvement in sugar/cholesterol/tryglycerides etc5. Amount of time spent on physical activity in a day/week6. Amount of time spent playing favorite sport.7. Monthly/Qtly milestones for each of the identified goals

Financial Health

Goals can be in the direction of 1. Reduction in out standing loans/credit cards2. Amount of surplus cash as a factor of current

monthly salary 3. Securing future earnings adequately in the event of

any contingency4. % of income to used for future savings5. Reduction in EMI amount6. Reduction in discretionary expenses7. Health insurance for family other than Group

insurance provided by employer.

Golden Rules of Financial Well Being:1. 50% of your assets must be generating income ( if

your value is1 cr and of which 90 lakhs is value of your house and 10 lakhs is in Gold. its not healthy)

2. Your Debt to Asset ratio should be 0.5 or less.( your outstanding loans should be less than half of your asset value)

3. You must have 6 months of your current monthly salary as liquid /emergency fund in Banks or liquid MFs

4. Your income should be divided in the ratio of 15:50:35 toward payment of past loans: current expenses: future savings ( remember we are going to spend maximum amount of life in the future)

Emotional HealthGoals can be in the direction of 1. Improving intimacy in existing relationships2. Balancing between work, life, hobby and playing3. Enjoying nature ( morning walk/evening stroll)4. Having not less then 6-7 hours of sleep a day5. Practicing giving.( Donate resource/time /effort)6. Overcoming addictions ( including social networking ..)7. Listen to soothing music, reading meaningful books.8. Dedicated family time ( no intrusions including TV)9. Working to improve fractured relationships with friends or relatives10. Do prayer or visit place of worship11. Practicing to forgive12. Practice Gratitude ( say thanks to people/god on a daily basis) ( GRATITUDE IS THE GATE WAY TO HEAVEN)

Social HealthGoals can be in the direction of 1. Time reduction in virtual networking2. Scheduling of real meetings with friends/relatives3. Participating in social/religious events4. Participating in cause one believes in5. Family time out visiting relatives6. Attending functions.7. Attends Cultural events 8. Connecting with old friends and reliving old memories in person or over

phone, having a hearty laugh.
