HOLIDAY SHARING 2013Greenfield High School National Honor Society

WHAT IS IT?Holiday sharing was started almost 20 years ago.

Holiday Sharing is the “adoption” of families in the community in need during the holiday season.

Through donations, fundraisers, staff members, students, and community businesses, the National Honor Society is able to provide the necessary assistance to area families to make their holiday a little brighter.

As a community and school effort, this program has grown to assist many families in need (52 this year) as well as worthwhile organizations.

OVER 6,000 NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS WERE DONATED

Thank you to Greenfield Middle School, Edgewood, Elm Dale, Glenwood, and Maple Grove Elementary Schools.

Each family was given several boxes of food.

Additional Donations were made to: 1 carload of toys, new hats/gloves (200), and

several boxes of children’s books went to St. Francis Hospital for waiting rooms, Pediatric and Emergency Departments

Approximately 5000+ items of clothing went to Prince of Peace for distribution to needy families

Men’s winter clothing/coats/boots were donated to the Zablocki VA Medical Center for use with homeless veterans

ADDITIONAL DONATIONS: Emergency boxes of hats, scarves, and gloves were

sent to each of the four elementary schools in the Greenfield Schoool District…about 30--35 items in each box.

Toys were given to the Greenfield Fire Department for use during emergency/trauma situations.

7 small truckloads of food were donated to St. Martin of Tours Emergency Food Pantry.  That pantry was selected because they turn no one away and they serve the 5 zip codes in southern Milwaukee County. They said that the food donated by Holiday

Sharing will help them through May.

NJHS This year NJHS 8th graders came over from

the middle school to help with the 1st hour collection and sorting

Thank you to Senorita Swaer, Senoria Mihalyi, and Frau Beier

GREENFIELD NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY WOULD LIKE TO THANK

EVERYONE THAT HELP MAKE HOLIDAY SHARING SUCH A HUGE

SUCCESS THIS YEAR!
