HNS is an award-winning creative signage company based in Birmingham.

We’re small but mighty and are proud to say we do anything and everything sign-related. This includes all aspects of sign writing, from initial consultation and

design, through to manufacture, installation and after-care. We’re also one of the few companies, and certainly the youngest, to do traditional signwriting.

Island Bar Signage for Bitters ‘n’ Twisted

Bitters ‘n’ Twisted are to food, drink and general merriment, what we are to signs and graphics so we knew that together we could produce something truly different. The focus was their Island Bar in the heart of Birmingham city and the remit was to reflect island life.

The client loved our idea of a hand painted surfboard on a wooden background and halo illuminated letters. Our head designer, Raph created the design while the client chose the colours for the wood panelling and lettering.

Here are a few creative highlights:

• To get that rustic, surf-worn look we used four different shades of grey and distressed the design using grey and black spray paint on a third of the panels• We painted using traditional signwriting techniques• To symbolise exotic waters, we chose translucent blue cast vinyl giving a blue glow

Playrooms for Birmingham Children’s Hospital

As the hospital’s preferred supplier, we were asked to join forces with RFC Construction and refurbish 10 playrooms, 9 for younger children and one for teens. Working alongside numerous contractors including carpenters and decorators, we ensured all materials were fit for purpose and colours were perfectly matched.

We designed and provided:

• Special printed wallpaper which allowed for necessary hospital cleaning• Wayfinding signs• Window vinyls – for privacy and decoration• LED illuminated panels – to brighten up those darker days

The Full Package for NuYu

Following on from some deserved business success, NuYu director, David moved to larger premises and was keen to capitalise on the momentum and increase his customer base. He clearly understood the importance of branding and marketing and tasked us with providing a brand and marketing-boosting package.
