Major Freight RouteMajor freight routes include Gregory Highway North and South linking Charters Towers to NSW – identified as the inland transport alternative between Cairns and Melbourne. CQ Inland Port is situated on the Capricorn Highway, being the major link between Rockhampton, Longreach and beyond to North West QLD and Northern Territory.

Be a multifunction, multi-user facility;
Provide for high-impact, 24/7 operations and is code accessible;
Improve supply chain efficiency between key origins and destinations;
Encourage greater utilisation of rail and increasing rail investment for freight transport outcomes;
Facilitate high productivity vehicles for general access in addition to enhanced rail capacity.

Northern Australia’s first inland port, which encompasses over 200 hectares. A road rail hub and major industrial site, linking the agricultural and resource areas across central Queensland.
Meeting the expanding demands for efficient transport solutions to ensure our global competitiveness. The CQ Inland Port - shovel ready to support Northern Australia’s growth - hubbing north to south, east to west.
Accommodating a large range of services – transhipment of container and break bulk, warehousing and storage, including cold storage options, quarantine, pre-assembly, packing, repacking and value adding. Integrated into the Queensland 20 tonne axle load rail network, and able to service the key eastern Queensland seaports.
The CQ Inland Port site has been identified in the Central Highlands Regional Council Planning Scheme (2016) as Special Industry Zone which is further surrounded by agreater area zoned industrial investigative. This provides greater flexibility and advantage in terms of potential activities. Louis Dreyfus Cotton Gin is already based at the Yamala site.
Permitted Land Use A cross section of some permitted uses that are exempt and Code Assessable. A diverse range of commercial and industrial style businesses can be ideally based within CQ Inland Port.
