Write a poem about “Life on a Farm.” Enter for a chance to win prizes. Think about the animals and plants that are grown on farms. What chores need to be done? Who does them? How early do farmers get up? How do farm families get fueled up to do their chores? How does the weather affect farmers? Use your imagination and be creative. Limit the Length: Please limit the length of your poem to 120 words or less. If you are inspired to keep writing, just write a new poem to submit. Enter as many times as you wish. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded by grade divisions. 1st place $60; 2nd place $40; 3rd place $20. Deadline: Entries must be received before midnight on Sunday, March 15, 2020. E-mail your poems to [email protected] or mail it prior to Thursday, March 12th, to Longmont Dairy, 920 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501. Include your name, grade, school, home address, and phone number. Contest Rules The contest is open to current Longmont Dairy customers and will be divided by grade divisions: K-2 nd Grade, 3-5 th Grade, 6-8 th Grade, and 9-12 th Grade. Contestants may enter as many times as they want. Limit the length of the poem to less than 120 words. Each submission must include contestant’s name, grade, school, home address, and phone number. Each winner will have their poems published in the May Mooo News with their name, school, and grade. Poems published on our website will include poet’s first name, school and grade. All poems that do not win a prize may be posted on our website at our discretion. Poem submissions become the property of Longmont Dairy Farm, Inc. Your entry of a poem gives your consent to the contest rules. Dear Friends, We are excited to start offering a few specialty milks which will run for one month each. In March, we will carry Vanilla Mint Milk. I had never tried Vanilla Mint before, but after our plant manager made up a batch, I was very excited to share this with all of you. Serve this as a treat to celebrate St. Patty’s Day. Stay tuned for another surprise milk in September. It’s also time for the kids and teenagers to show us their creativity with the poetry contest. I absolutely love seeing how many of our customers participate each year. Grab a pencil and paper out of your bin. Enter the Contest. You just might win! Beer and Cheese Potato Soup with SausageHearty and delicious. Perfect for a cold-weather dinner. Makes 12 servings.

18-20 oz. spicy pork sausage 2 lbs. potatoes, skinned and diced 6 tablespoons Country Cream Butter into ½” pieces1 white onion, diced 1 cup Longmont Dairy 1 cup chopped carrots Whipping Cream1 cup chopped celery 8 oz. shredded Tillamook Sharp5 cloves garlic, minced Cheddar Cheese2 teaspoons dried oregano Pinch of Kosher salt1 teaspoon dried thyme Pinch of fresh cracked pepper5 tablespoons flour Sliced green onions or cheddar3 (14.5 oz) cans chicken broth cheese for garnish12 oz. can of dark ale

Brown and crumble sausage in a large pan. Remove from pan. Melt butter in same pan. Add carrots, celery and onions with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until just soft. Add garlic, oregano and thyme and cook for 1 minute. Add flour, stirring well for 1 minute.

Stir in chicken broth, beer and diced potatoes. Cover and bring soup to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20-30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Transfer half of the soup into a blender. Blend until smooth. Return to pot. Add whipping cream, shredded cheese, and cooked sausage to pot and heat until cheese is melted and sausage is reheated. Garnish with sliced green onions and cheddar cheese.
