Hey, everybody! It’s so good to see so many of you this morning/afternoon/ evening! • My name is [Host Name], and to kick us off this morning

I have a bit of a confession. Now, this is not something I run around telling everyone, but this feels like a safe place.

• Before I share this, my only request is that no one laughs at me. Deal? (Allow response.) OK . . . (draw this out for humorous effect) Here it goes . . . sometimes . . . I cry during television commercials. There. I said it!

• Now, hang on a second. Before you all start judging me, I’m not crying at the lame car dealer commercials or the overly aggressive lawyer advertisements. It’s only the really sweet ones. And don’t act like you’ve never shed a tear during a commercial break! Especially during the Thanksgiving Publix commercials. I mean, just look at these: ELEM Lunch WK 2 (1)

• So sweet, right?! These commercials had something in common besides the fact that they were ads for the same company. Can anybody tell me what was the same about both clips? (Allow response.)

• Both videos have a character who feels left out. The dog felt left out of the family after the baby arrived because the child was scared of the dog. But everything changed when the owner purchased that crazy lion’s mane. And the miniature horse felt left out of the herd. So the owner inserted a GIANT doggie door so the horse could feel included at the house instead.

ELEM Lunch WK 2 (2)

Have you ever experienced anything like that? • Clearly, you’re not a dog or a miniature horse, but

maybe you have been left out. Maybe there wasn’t an empty seat for you at the lunch table where all your friends eat. Maybe you didn’t get invited to the sleepover. Maybe you found out that a bunch of your friends went to the movies, but they never invited you. Does anyone want to share about a time when they felt left out? (Wait for response)

Lunchroom_Lesson It’s true. Feeling left out can be very lonely. We might not know what to do or what to say when that happens to us.

• Do you notice when OTHER people are left out? How can we respond when we see that happening to someone else? (Encourage suggestions.)

ELEM Lunch WK 2 (3)

• Well, did you know that some of the people we read about in the Bible felt left out from time to time? This week we’re gonna check out a guy by the name of Saul. Now, if you were here last week, we talked about another guy named Saul. Different guy. That was King Saul, and he lived centuries before the Saul in today’s story. Got it? Good! Let’s dig into Saul’s story!

What makes someone a good friend? (Encourage responses.) • Everyone has a different answer on what makes a

good friend. But I think we can all agree that a true friend shows you that they love and care for you.

• Barnabas clearly knew of Saul’s reputation, but it’s important to point out that Barnabas trusted that God could change a person like Saul.

• So when Saul said that Jesus had changed him, Barnabas didn’t see Saul as a person who threatened believers; Barnabas saw Saul as someone who could help share Jesus’ message to people all over the world.

• All of this brings us to our Bottom Line for today

Lead Kids in Prayer Dear God, thank You for always accepting us, even when we don’t deserve it. We are thankful for the example the early Jesus-followers showed us by how they accepted one another. Please help us to accept one another too, so that others can see Your love in action. We love You and pray this in Jesus’ name, amen. LEM Lunch WK 2 (6)

Now, remember how I said that accepting your friends doesn’t mean accepting choices that they make that are disobedient to God. As a matter of fact, you need to know when to steer clear of friends when they are making disobedient and disrespectful choices. I have a friend who is going to give us a few pointers on steering clear in those situations.

Now I want Mexican food. All right everybody, it’s time to get up on your feet. I hope you came ready to get loud as we worship today. When we get super excited about things we get loud. We scream and shout. Well, I’m so excited about all God is doing in us and here at the Way Station. C’mon and let’s get loud and sing!

There are many ways we can show love to our friends. Even more importantly, there are many ways we can show our love and thankfulness to God. One of those ways is through our offering. When you give an offering with a happy and thankful heart, it’s a way you are showing your love. We give because HE gave to us first. If anyone has offering, please place it in (indicate area). our community. The food will be added to meal boxes that will be given out during our Thanksgiving food distribution on November 18.

Deliver the food to any CF KIDS DROP SPOT at check-in or within the CF Kids area. Let us know once you've participated, and we will give you a very special pin for your lanyard.

I don’t know if you realize this, but every month we have a new memory verse. This month, our memory verse can be found in the book of Galatians 5:14. Do you think you know it? Let’s follow along with the video to learn it!

Lunchroom_Code Blue_Slide Coming up NEXT WEEKEND is a church wide event called CODE BLUE! Now you might be familiar with a Code Red or Code Yellow or Code Blue or Code Fushia (just kidding) because of school emergency drills. But Code Blue is a code used in hospitals to mean there is an emergency. And that’s what Code Blue will be about. There is an emergency in our city!

• What’s the emergency, you ask? There are over a million people in Miami-Dade county who are far from God!

ELEM Lunch WK 2 (10)

In order for us to reach these people and tell them about God’s love, we need to make sure we are being fully devoted followers of Christ. We need to respond to this emergency. So before we leave today, we’re going to pray for the Code Blue event. Let’s pray that God will use the people of Christ Fellowship, like he used Paul and Barnabas, to reach the people who are far from Him and help us to show His love to others. Let’s pray!

But wait, there is more! If you and your family make it to the Code Blue event, you will receive our first ever CODE BLUE PIN! That’s right!

ELEM Lunch WK 2 (11)

Only people going to the event will get this very special pin. So you’re not going to want to miss it! Check with your parents today to make sure you are signed up and ready to go! Be on the lookout for ways you can accept and love your friends this week. See you next time!
