PEHP members are saying how much they like Amwell; it’s both convenient and low
cost. You may get questions from employees about Amwell. Here are some answers to questions we’ve received.
What is Amwell? Amwell is a faster, easier way to see a doctor. You can have video visits with a doctor anytime. It’s easy to use, private, and secure. It’s free to enroll and the cost per visit is $10 for Traditional plans. The STAR Plan members only pay $10 for a limited time, if they use the promo code PEHP10, otherwise, it’s $40 before deductible.
Amwell offers:
» Your choice of trusted, U.S. board-certified doctors and therapists
» Video visits using the web or mobile app
» Consultation, diagnosis—even prescriptions (when appropriate)
Use Amwell any time, day or night. It’s perfect when your doctor’s office is closed, you’re too sick or busy to see someone in person, or even when you’re traveling.
When would I Use Amwell?» I should probably see a doctor, but
can’t fit it into my schedule
» My doctor’s office is closed
» I feel too sick to drive
» I have children at home and don’t want to bring them with me
» It’s difficult for me to get a doctor’s appointment
» I’m on business travel and stuck in a hotel room
What can doctors treat on Amwell? On Amwell you can take care of most common issues like: » colds » sinusitis» flu » ear infection» fever » pinkeye» rash » migraines» abdominal pain
You can also see a therapist for ongoing counseling for concerns

Wellness Council representatives from our PEHP groups across
the state will come together at the annual PEHP Healthy Utah Wellness Council Conference: “Wellness Champions – Meeting the Challenge,” on Thursday, June 23, at the Utah State Capitol.
Each year, council members gather to learn from experts in the field of worksite wellness and share ideas to engage employees in leading healthier lives.
Dr. Steven Aldana, nationally recognized author and worksite wellness professional, will be our keynote speaker. Lt. Governor Spencer Cox will also attend the conference to recognize the winners of the Governor’s Choice Health Challenge, a competition among State agencies recently held in May.
Additionally, prize money will be awarded to the winners of the 2015-16, “Work Well Being Challenge,” our 11-month worksite competition, in which six areas of wellbeing (career, social, physical, emotional, financial, community) were addressed by wellness councils throughout the year.
Those who attend the conference are from “grassroots” wellness
councils, typically comprised of employees from all divisions and levels within an organization. Council members share a common mission to improve the health and wellbeing of their workforce with simple activities and environmental changes that meet the needs and interests of their organization.
Whether you already have a council or have been thinking about starting one, this conference will provide tools, education, and networking opportunities to help you take the next steps.
How Do I Register?
There is still time to register for this FREE conference. Learn more and join us by clicking here by June 17.

PEHP VALUE CLINICSPEHP Value Clinics provide all the services of a family doctor, but at a lower cost. Medical clinics in the Salt Lake Valley offer members on The STAR Plan a 25% discount on what you would normally pay an in-network provider. Members on the Traditional plan are charged a $10 office co-pay.
YOUR MONEY
W e’ve made some enhancements recently to
help members find care and we’d like you to help us get the word out.
We added dollar signs to our “See Costs” button in our provider search tool, so members can see at a glance how one provider’s typical pricing compares to similar providers.
A provider can receive anywhere from one dollar sign, meaning lowest cost, to five dollar signs, meaning highest cost (see image). To view detailed cost information, members click the “See Costs” button to look at the most common billed procedures or input a specific code to get a price check.
Price is just one consideration. We also encourage members
to continue to use the provider rating system to comment on their experience with providers and view other’s experiences. Combining the cost information with the reviews helps members know what to expect.
To access the full ratings and cost information members need to log in here.
If a member needs general medical help, and it’s not an emergency, PEHP Value Clinics or Amwell are great options. When members need a little extra help finding a doctor or knowing where to go next we encourage them to call us at 801-366-7555 and ask for a nurse. Our member services nurses are here to help.

1Your Employees Deserve It. If you don’t offer PEHP Life & Accident to your employees, they’re missing out on an easy and affordable way to
protect their families. Talk to your Client Services Representative to learn more.
2Enroll at Any Time. Open
enrollment is a great time for employees to consider buying or increasing their PEHP Life & Accident coverage. Enrollment in this valuable coverage isn’t limited to open enrollment. You can enroll or make changes at any time. From the PEHP for Members homepage, go to the “my Benefits” menu and find “Enroll in Life & Accident.”
3Guaranteed Issue. If you apply within 60 days of your hire date, employees can buy up to $150,000 as guaranteed issue — $50,000 for
spouses, and $15,000 for dependent children. After 60 days, or for coverage greater than these amounts, you must provide evidence of insurability.
4Customizable Benefits. We offer coverage at varying amounts for your employees, spouses, and dependent children. Basic coverage is
employer funded. You may choose to also fund basic coverage for spouses and dependent children.
5Other benefits. Accidental death and dismemberment pays benefits in the event of your death or injury in an accident. You can buy up
to $250,000 in coverage, and rates are the same regardless of your age. Accidental weekly indemnity provides you with additional income if you miss work because of a non-job-related accident. Accident medical expense helps pay medical expenses beyond what insurance pays if you’re injured in a non-job-related accident.

Over time, taking too much sun without any protection can
lead to problems — from dry skin and wrinkles to skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer.
Family history can play a part in your risk of developing it. But bad sunburns, especially during childhood, increase your chances.
Here are some tips to enjoy your time in the sun, safely.
» Cover up. Clothing and hats are good basic protection from the sun. The sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. During these hours, try to limit your time in the sun.
» Sunscreen can help a lot. At the very least, use lotions with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15. But SPF 30 offers better protection. Remember to reapply every 1- 2 hours.
Common skin cancers — and what to look forWhile a darker skin color offers some natural protection from the sun, it does not make you immune to skin cancer¹. So, it’s important to keep an eye out for these common cancers. And ask your doctor to take a look. They can be treated easily
if found early enough. Having a dermatologist look over your skin once a year is usually considered preventive care and is covered at 100%.
Basal cell carcinomas make up 80% of all skin cancers. They:
» Are usually pearly, slow-growing, raised areas that may crust, bleed.
» Occur mostly on the head, face, ears, back, and neck.
Squamous cell carcinomas make up 15% of all skin cancers. They:
» Show as red or pink, scaly bumps.
» Occur mostly on the head, face, ears, hands, arms, and legs.
Malignant melanomas are the most serious skin cancer. They:
» Can be fatal, but are treatable if found early.
» Begin as a dark brown or flat black spot; may change in shape or color.
» May grow from a mole.¹Gohara, M. & Perez, M.: Skin cancer and skin of color. Skin Cancer Foundation. 2015. Available at www.skincancer.org/prevention/skin-cancer-and-skin-of-color. Accessed May 18, 2015.
