Pope John Recycling Program There is a change in Pope John’s recycling program. Two recycle bins are placed on the north side of the garage next to the St. Boniface Gym.

Papers/acceptable recyclables can be put in the bins whenever it is convenient for you. Acceptable items are: Newspapers, office paper, phone books, paperback books, paper bags, cereal boxes, Kleenex boxes, pop & beer boxes, magazines, and mailings. The bins are emptied on Wednesdays. If they are full when you come, please place your recyclables in the garage. The list of unacceptable items includes plastic bags, string, metal, wire, aluminum cans, glass, styrofoam, trash, feed sacks, used pizza boxes and other boxes that contained prepared food, and cardboard. A full list of acceptable and unacceptable items is attached to the bins. Thanks to all who recycle, especially those who saved papers during the months when we couldn’t hold our usual paper drives. Sweet Corn Time! The Food Committee is again asking for sweet corn for the Thanksgiving Bazaar. They are asking for it to be frozen in one gallon freezer bags. There will be a signup sheet in the back of St. Boniface Church this weekend,

August 1-2 to mark down how many gallons you wish to donate. If you cannot sign up at church but plan to freeze sweet corn, please call Emily Borer at 402-843-5350. Thank you for your continued support of the Bazaar.

St. Boniface and Pope John School Parents are reminded that they are required to deposit $100.00 in their lunch account by August 13th. (note the new amount) You may do by mailing your payment to

Magnificat Another order will soon be placed for bulk subscriptions to the Magnificat. This prayer book contains the Mass readings, morning, evening and night prayer of the church, along with daily info about the lives of the saints. Meditations each day are chosen to help us grow deeper in our spiritual journey. The cost is $36. If it is ordered singly the cost is $45. Bazaar Event Cancelled It is with great sadness that we are announcing that Saint John's Annual Bazaar originally set for Sunday, September 6, 2020; has been cancelled. This decision was not made easily. Your health and

safety is our top priority. We still plan to have our regular Bazaar Raffle and the Quilt Raffle. Please contact a Parishioner to buy raffle tickets. Thank you. Tickets are due back Tuesday, September 8th. Drawing winners announced on Monday September 14. Please help us to spread the word by letting your friends and family know. 2020 MARRIAGE CELEBRATION

September 27 in Norfolk Archbishop George J. Lucas invites you to attend the annual Mass honoring marriage on September 27th at St. Mary’s in Norfolk. This event honors couples who are celebrating 25, 40, 50, 60 or more years of marriage. Rosary at 1:30pm, Mass at 2pm. Registration limited to the first 50 couples and is required by August 7th, 2020. Religious Education Program!

We have offered the Family Formation program for the last 7 years. If you want to know more about the Family Formation program see https://www.familyformation.net/. Once each month, on a Wednesday, families attend Mass together at 6:30 pm, students go with their catechist from 7-8 pm for class time, and parents attend Father Vogel's talk on the topic for that month. The following Wednesday 5-6 pm is a class just for students and catechists. Families complete at-home lessons you get in a packet each month. FAMILY FORMATION begins Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 2. The Stations of the Cross Reopening

The Stations of the Cross at The Cloisters on the Platte will reopen to the public beginning Monday, August 3rd. Precautions will be taken to implement social distancing and to sanitize audio equipment and indoor areas to prevent spreading COVID-19. Plan to wear a mask for your

shuttle ride and gift shop visit. Experience the 2,500 foot long walking tour of The Stations of the Cross, comprised of 14 sculptures depicting Christ’s trial through his burial. Visitors are encouraged to donate $10 or more per person. With each donation, visitors will receive a complimentary audio tour. The new expanded visiting hours are Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm; Friday and Saturday 9am to 3pm. Visitors may remain at the Stations of the Cross for up to an hour after closing time.
