Connecting curriculum to content

ScOT linking systems together

Simply, ScOT (Schools Online

Thesaurus) is an online

collection of interrelated

descriptors (or tags) used to

describe the content and

pedagogy of schools.

• SCIS records have both SCIS and SCoT terms in subject fields

• Check your system provider to see how to handle both systems

• Then turn on the SCoT option in your SCIS profile

• Retrospective subject reload available as fee for service

• Bulk upload of TLF learning objects

SCIS and SCoT

• A metadata record exists for resource in Scootle:

• Describes education value and links to the curriculum.

• A user view of the full metadata record in the ESA exchange that drives the search and discovery.

• Metadata is specifically written by subject matter experts

• Contains the web link to a single or collection of resources on Contributor’s website.
