The Gateway Project -- Harvard is planning to develop a mixed-use facility for academic and administrative offices on the upper levels and ground floor retail space to complement the Barry’s Corner Residential and Retail Common. The Gateway Project will be built on the site of the current Charlesview Apartments, which are set to be demolished.

In 2007, the BRA approved Harvard’s Science Complex. Construction began in late 2007, but Harvard stopped after the 2009 global financial crisis. The area has remained a pedestrian-impermeable construction zone. They have resumed work on the Science Complex and have retained the original architects, Behnisch Architekten.
