Committee News
Here’s the latest from the committee room.
Firebirds club fees for 2019
At the December committee meeting the decision was made to reduce the club membership
fees for members re-joining under the current circumstances. The fees will include continued
access to woodlands school, the PADMAC site and social events.
The suggested fees will be presented at the Christmas party for a vote by members.
At the rates to be proposed (subject to renewal numbers) the club may run at a slight loss
during 2019 then relying on its reserves.
The committee are still actively looking for an official / permanent site and it is therefore
proposed that the membership fee will be reviewed when a new flying site is secured. Any
increased fee would only affect new / lapsed members those members already joined / re-
joined will not pay any revised fee until 2020.
Due to the reduced amount proposed there will be no option for 2 payments (post-dated
cheque for half of the fee) as in the past.
Important - Members not renewing before December 31st cannot fly at our sites from January
1st. Any member not paying their membership before the 1st April will be considered as a
having not re-joined and have to re-apply to join the club.
** You can pay at the Christmas party if you bring your cheque book ! **
AGM 2019
The Club's AGM will take place at 8.00pm on Thursday 17th January 2019 at the Hamble Club.
An Agenda and Minutes of the last AGM will be circulated by email before the meeting. The
Agenda will include a vote to elect the 2019 Committee so if anyone is interested in standing,
please contact a current committee member.
Other items for the Agenda must be forwarded in writing (an email will do) to the current
committee by 10th January 2019 at the latest. Only items on the Agenda will be discussed at
the meeting.

PADMAC Site
Our ongoing thanks to PADMAC for keeping us flying..
Bob Farr who is a member of Firebirds and also safety officer at PADMAC let us have a copy of
his annual report, in which we were mentioned.
It’s been a good year so far with no major issues reported, a few crashes,
planes in trees, normal model flying pleasures. I would like to thank all
members for giving me a quiet time by maintaining safe practices, and
sticking to the rules.
I would also like to thank Firebirds members for the respect they shown to
our flying site during the time they are sharing with us.
One last thing regarding the Cows, please be very careful if on your own,
we could have had a very nasty outcome where a flyer, on his own was
circled by the Cows and only just managed to get out of the field
unharmed.
PADMAC Note on Cows…
There are currently no cows in the field over the next few months so there is no need to
switch on the electric fence PADMAC will inform us when this changes.
PADMAC flying times (once initial introduction done with a principle / committee member).

CHRISTMAS DRAW 2018 - £650 worth of prizes confirmed !!
Christmas Draw tickets are now on sale so don't forget to bring some money to the site,
tickets will also be available at the Christmas party (the day of the draw)! It is looking like
there will be £650 worth of prizes so well worth getting a few extra entries.
BALSA BRAIN
Once again the BMFA's Southern Area Balsa Brain Quiz was hosted by the Firebirds in November
attendance was good with the Firebirds putting in 2 teams, unlike last year our teams didn’t
come near the top... At half-time there was an excellent free buffet (funded by the Southern
Area).
At the end of the evening the Southern Area Chairman, Tony Butterworth, thanked the Firebirds
for hosting the event.

Some things never change
Last month the picture below was
included in the Newsletter, I am
informed that the 2 lads were
indeed our Russell and his then
trainer John Graham.
Nothing much has changed in
the intervening 15½ years,
Russell is still crashing planes.
