    Summer Training Program in a PGDM program is a gateway for the student to begin a

    career right way. If planned meticulously and executed effectively, the STP will increase

    the prospect of getting final placement.

    Academically STP has got the highest rigor and weightage and an integral part of the

    PGDM program. It has 6 credits weightage ( 200 marks). Hence the student is expectedto put the best of his/her efforts with uncompromising sincerity, commitment and

    professionalism.

    GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER TRAINING PROJECT (PGDM)

    Summer Project is an integral part of the 2 year PGDM program at Vishwa Vishwani

    Institute of Systems & Management (VVISM), Hyderabad.

    1. OBJECTIVES

    1. The overall objective of the summer training project work is to provide students with

    an opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the various business functions in an

    organization and to understand the challenges there in.

    2. Further the students can understand the work culture in the organization, develop

    professional relationship in the organization.

    3. The students can also learn how the conceptual learning can be rightly applied to

    business situation..

    2. SUPERVISION

    During the training the student will be under the supervision of a person in the

    organization who will act as his/her corporate guide. He/she will provide guidelines on

    how the student should work during his/her stay with the organization. In addition, each

    student will be guided by a faculty of VVISM. The student will be required to report to

    the faculty guide immediately after joining the company for the project. The student is

    required to meet the faculty guide before departing for the summer training and take

    necessary instructions from him/her. The faculty guide will consult the corporate guide

    from time to time for obtaining information on the progress of the Project work of the

    student.

    3. REPORTING TO ORGANISATION

    After the collection of official permission letter from the organization, the student is

    required to take identity card, and when reporting to the organization maintain aLogbook and record all the information gathered and work done daily. Internal faculty

    guide may visit the organization at any time to assess the progress of work.

    4. REPORT FORMS

    After joining the organization the student must send a joining report to the faculty

    guide (Annexure-VII).

    5. SYNOPSIS

    The student has to prepare a tentative research proposal/synopsis in consultation withthe concerned faculty guide as per the guide lines. One hard copy of synopsis is to be

    submitted to faculty guide and one to the corporate guide.

    6. APPROVAL OF RESEARCH PROPOSAL

    After preparing the research proposal, the student should preferably have preliminary

    discussion with both corporate guide and faculty guide before proceeding further.

    7. PROJECT REPORT FORMAT

    All the students have to prepare and submit three sets of final project report at the

    end of the training. One copy of project report to be submitted to faculty guide, one copy

    to the corporate guide and one will be for the students personal.

    The project report should to be certified by the corporate guide and faculty guide, has to be

    prepared according to the formats provided in Annexure III and Annexure IV respectively.

    Along with this the students are required to submit filled feedback form taken from their

    corporate project guide as per Annexure- VIII and same is to be submitted to the

    concerned faculty guide.

    8. CONDUCT / DISCIPLINE

    1. The students are required to abide by the rules of the organization where they are

    undergoing their training.

    2. The corporate organization will be taking a strong view of the punctuality and

    behavior of the student during the training and therefore the student is required to be on

    his/her best behavior and inculcate the good norms of the organization.

    3. In case a student has to take leave of absence, he/she has to take necessary

    permission from the organization and the faculty guide before he/she proceeds on

    leave.

    4. In case the student is to take up project based work at the instance of the company

    he/she should conduct it to his/her best capabilities under the guidance of the

    faculty/corporate guide.

    5. No student should try to copy or use information in such a way that will project false

    image of the company. All students are required to maintain strict confidentiality of anyinformation they come across in the organizations in course of their training. The

    student involved in any malpractice shall be duly penalized.

    6. All students are required to report to internal guide every week and inform about the

    progress of training. Last date of submission of the project reports is 23 June, 2011.

    7. The students are advised to be in the formal dress code during their visit to the

    organization.

    GENERAL INFORMATION TO BE COLLECTED BY STUDENTS DURING

    SUMMER TRAINING

    Along with the data regarding the topic, following general information is to be collected

    by students undergoing in - company or in plant training irrespective of their functional

    areas/topic, etc. such as

    1. Sales performance for last five years (Product wise if possible)

    In Units

    In Rupees

    2. Number of Employees, (Section-wise or as per classification like skilled, semi-

    skilled, unskilled worker, officers, managers, etc.)

    3. Photograph (s) in the organization, while discussing with officer of the company

    If possible. (not mandatory)

    4.Detailed Organizational charts

    5.Annual Reports for last 5 years.

    6.Historical background of the company.7. Future plans of the company.

    8. Product, literature, photographs of the product, technical details, etc.

    9. List of competitors.

    10. Other relevant information such as future plans, export strategy, market share etc.
