Summary• Problem

• Smartone GSM has existing freq plan with FH• Smartone wants to

• generate new freq plan, compare with existing FH, generate violation report and cost function

• Manually allocate freq and check induced cost

• Steps• Setup spectrum, MAL, carrier type in network setting• Create interference matrix (IM), neighbor list (NL) as AFP input• Run planet AFP to tabulate violation/cost/allocated freq result (assume total new

freq allocation for all sectors• Modify project by adding 1 extra SFH TCCH TRX to some sectors• Rerun planet AFP to tabulate violation/cost/allocated freq result• Run interactive AFP for manually freq allocation

Demo GSM1800 project setup

• create GSM1800 band with 55 carriers• [optional] create 15 MAL with length 5 (i.e, each MAL contains 5 carriers) OR let AFP create optimal MAL sets during optimization• create group with 28 sites, 84 sectors for AFP test• each sector has 1 BCCH TRX, 2 synthesized FH TCCH TRX

Create interference matrix (IM)

• co-channel and adjacent channel threshold, typically use 3GPP limit of 9dB and -9dB with margin of 3dB respectively (i.e.,, 12dB and -6dB as threshold used in planet)• [optional] for non best server calculation, typically use 4dB and 10% to allow overlapped area• for victim/offender RSSI threshold, use rx sensitivity with +/- x dB margin for victim and offender• histogram interval, use typical range of C/I min/max range and steps• algorithm = best server area is based on histogram IM (exactly same IM as old planet v5.2)

= overlapped best server area is same as before, except only C/I at bins where best server and interfering sector area overlaps are considered

= server service probab is new in planet v5.3, where unlike other 2 methods, it now generate C/I histogram based on multiple servers based on their respective service prob• [optional] import IM from OSS, e.g., for ericsson RNO, use ASCII based NCS recording, and match column of serving/interfering sector pair for IM import back to planet

Page 5: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

5

Examples of IM results

If histogram peak is biased to right (i.e., high C/I values are more dominant), this pair of sector can allow to have same freq allocation

If histogram peak is biased to left (i.e., low C/I values are more dominant), this pair of sector is less likely to have same freq allocaiton

Histogram C/I IM is input to AFP is to be used as input to AFP, sort by largest affected area to see worst case sector pair

Create neighbor list (NL)

• NL can be generated by best server (i.e., neighbor based on overlapped border from best server plot), IM (based on IM weight), service prob (based on service prob of multiple server weight)• mutual neighor should be ON• max distance between neighbor should be set to avoid excessive # of NL• [optional] NL from OSS can be import back to planet as excel file by matching NL table

Page 7: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

7

Example of NL results

Tabulate neighbor list generated and overlapped area km^2 and area %

After NL result is applied, site config is updated, and user can display NL per sector within xxx km

Page 8: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

8

Run planet AFP 1Planet AFP input = IM and NL

Plan freq (AFP) and FH parameter (HSN and MAIO)

Plan all BCCH1800 sector for BCCH TRX within 5km2 area threshold

Plan all TCH1800 sector for SFH TCH TRX within 5km2 area threshold

Set cost factor and min carrier separation

Page 9: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

9

Run planet AFP 2

• Assume generated freq allocation for all sectors

• Allow overlapping between different MAL (i.e., MAL selected may contain same carrier compare with different MAL selected)

• Plan all SFH parameter for MAIO and HSN with interference-based optimization

• HSN assigned independently per TRX basis for SFH case

Page 10: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

10

AFP result 1 AFP report list for all TRX per site/sectors, and each report can be viewed and exported as csv/txt files

Page 11: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

11

AFP result 2

• AFP uses combination of IM and violation cost as input to rank freq allocation candidate

• violation column in cell-by-cell report shows different type of violations (e.g., SC(5) means freq allocated for sector xxx does not mean BOTH site and Sector min carrier spacing constraint set in AFP setting)

Page 12: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

12

AFP result 3

AFP freq assignment table contains many newly created MAL set during AFP optimization for TCH SFH TRX

Page 13: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

13

Modify project with 1 extra TCH TRX

• # showing TCH SFH TRX per sector• add 1 extra TCH SFH TRX to some sector (i.e., showing in RED circle)• for these 1 extra TCH SFH TRX, use same MAL as TCH TRX 2 (i.e., MAL violation “C” will occur between 2nd TCH TRX and 3rd TCH TRX)

Page 14: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

14

Re-run planet AFP

• Aim here is to use existing freq plan and compute violation cost for all sector, so set all AFP parameter to “Keep” (i.e., no freq ch is planned)

• check cell by cell report between new and old AFP report result for new violation cost due to added TCH SFH TRX(e.g., violation “C” will occur for sectors with newly added TCH SFH TRX)

• user can either rerun AFP by fixed some FH parameter (e.g., fix HSN=0 and tune MAIO) OR use interactive AFP to manually select ch for newly added TCH SFH TRX

Page 15: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

15

Interactive AFP 1

e.g., manually selected sector 2 of C0429 for newly added TCH SFH TRX

Violation “C” for sector 2, TRX 3 of TCH for site C0429 as expected

Page 16: GSM AFP Planet v53 Sep2011

16

Interactive AFP 2

• For sector 2, TRX 3 of TCH for site C0429, if freq allocated is now changed to MAL_A2, no violation is found

• note that cost breakdown needs to be checked for BOTH carrier and MAL type
