I'm Just Too Busy to Followup... Help! I have about 5 pages of customers and 2 pages of team members! How am I ever supposed to stay in touch with all these people? The team members have the corporate calls and the web site for help. If they need me, they will just have to call. The company keeps telling me how important it is to build customer loyalty. Isn’t that what the email newsletter is for? I know they all contribute to my paycheck. I am just too busy with my current customers, making money and spending it, let alone all that is going on with my family. Maybe I can invest in one of those automatic texting services to keep in touch. Lilly Leader, the interaction between every leader and follower is a relationship, and all relationships add or subtract from a person’s life. Is your attitude about your customers and team members adding to or subtracting from their lives? Are you making things better for the people you lead? If you cannot answer yes, and give some evidence that backs it up, you may well be a subtractor. Subtractors usually don’t do so intentionally, it does require intention to add value to others. How long do you suppose those team members and customers will be around if they don’t feel that you are adding value to them? John Maxwell’s Law of Addition: Leaders Add Value by Serving Others, may be just the ticket. The attitude of the leader affects the atmosphere of the team. If you desire to add value by serving others, you will become a better leader. And your people will achieve more, develop more loyalty, and have a better time getting things done (and so will you!) than you ever thought possible. That is the power of The Law of Addition. (paragraph paraphrased from The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell, Chapter 5).
