Greetings! We thank the Lord for your interest in the opportunity to serve our congregation as its next Lead Pastor. We have provided this profile as an introduction to our life and ministry. It was written to compliment information readily available at https://bellevuecrc.org/. We would like you to know that we recently celebrated our 50th Anniversary as a church—our Jubilee Year—and with it, we renewed our commitment to the mission Jesus gave us in the Great Commandment and in the Great Commission – to Love and to Make Disciples. We also would like you to know that we realize that the next 50 years will look much different than the first 50. Simply put, our society is changing, and to paraphrase Tod Bolsinger’s message in his book Canoeing the Mountains, “What got us here, won’t take us there.” We recognize that these changes present challenges and they also offer great opportunities, and we see ourselves in a time of transition that inspires us to move forward with purpose and passion. To that end, and to mark our Jubilee milestone, our church has rallied around a renewed vision entitled the Jubilee Vision for Growth, highlighting three areas of focus to guide us to a new season of ministry.

Growing Outward We want our church to be a community where people come to faith in Christ by reaching our sphere of influence with the message of Jesus and salvation.

Growing Younger We want our church to be relevant to the next generation, while engaging all peoples and life stages in ministry, worship and service.

Growing Together We want to be a church where people know and experience that they belong by being in a warm, vibrant, caring and connected community.

To help enable this path forward, our church body made a significant investment in the future with the successful completion of a $500,000 capital campaign to pay off the remaining debt from earlier building expansion projects and to kickoff ministry expansion outlined in our renewed vision. This will provide financial flexibility to pursue desired staff including an Associate Pastor to complement our Lead Pastor. We are blessed to have a highly engaged and supportive congregation, which includes families, couples and individuals that were there in the beginning and have grown up with the church, and also includes people who are new to our body. And we are blessed with a beautiful facility that we use to support our local community seven days a week.

Add to all of that, Bellevue Christian Reformed Church is located in one of the most beautiful corners of God’s creation, with scenery that inspires and speaks of His majesty. This location has attracted many people and businesses to settle down here, with a focus on high-tech, and with it, people from many different backgrounds and cultures. Bellevue is a largely unchurched city known for its progressive and secular mindset. For that reason, it is primed for hearing the Good News of Jesus. We have seen God’s hand present in the life and journey of His church in Bellevue and we wait with eager anticipation for the person that He has chosen to join us and help lead us forward in this next season. We trust that God’s Spirit is at work in the mind and heart of that person as well, and if that person might be YOU, then we prayerfully hope this short profile of our church will pique your interest and inspire you to learn more. We have not met yet, but we are praying for you! Blessings, The Bellevue Christian Reformed Church Search Team

Church Membership & Attendance

Average Worship Attendance: 158 The chart (to the right) may lead one to conclude that our membership has been stable when, in fact, there has been ebb and flow. This & That Worship Style: Contemporary Important Events in the 51-year history of our congregation:

1. Expanding and optimizing our property to accommodate growing ministries: Since the establishment of Bellevue CRC in 1967, our church has gone through three building expansion projects, the most significant being in 2005 when we added to our church facility a new larger sanctuary, additional classrooms, an updated office and workroom space, and, within two years, a new state-of-the-art kitchen on our main level and new youth room on our lower level.

2. Encouraging participation in church-wide spiritual growth experiences: Over the past decade there have been times of focused spiritual formation for the entire congregation.

3. Developing, adopting and implementing our Jubilee Vision for Growth.

4. Supporting a local ministry and new church plant (Church on the Ave).

BEAUTIFUL BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON

Separated from Seattle by Lake Washington, but just a 25-minute drive away, the city of Bellevue offers its nearly 150,000 residents the benefits of a large city (and its many entertainment venues) accompanied by a small-town vibe. Major media outlets have recognized Bellevue schools (including Bellevue Christian) as being among the best in the country and the city is home to Bellevue College and City University of Seattle. The city’s thriving commercial districts host many technology companies that have helped Bellevue’s downtown develop quickly over the past decade. Downtown Park has a large lawn, gardens and a waterfall. Nearby, the Bellevue Arts Museum features craft and design exhibitions, plus a sculpture garden. The Bellevue Botanical Garden highlights Pacific Northwest plants; it also includes woodlands and wetlands. Kids Quest Children’s Museum has interactive science, tech and art exhibitions.

I love Bellevue because of all it has to offer. You have the city life, a 30 min drive from incredible hiking, or if you travel the opposite way, you're at the beach. The neighborhoods are safe, well kept up, and include a large number of great restaurants to try. The schools are wonderful and the people are even better. With so many different fields of work from medical to tech and everything in between there is plenty of job opportunity. Bellevue will be my forever home! Current Resident
