1885-2015 the 130th Jubilee Celebration of our Congregation
Renewal of Vows
2
The 130th
Jubilee Celebration of our Congregation was a time of
great gratitude in Daegu Priory. We sought for not external events
but tried to remember our history of congregation which was sprout
from small seeds and set a side special time for prayer for our
congregation. In three days before the 130th
Jubilee Celebration, we
sang the “Te Deum” every day after the Vespers and tasted the joy of
the celebration.
In September 24th
, the priory house invited the
sisters of the Benedictine Spirituality Center and
the Scholastica House to celebrate the Morning
Prayer and Eucharistic Mass for the 130th
Jubilee of the Congregation to express together
our gratitude for God’s blessings and guidance.
At 4 PM the sisters had convent sports in the inner court of the priory house dividing into two
teams – Blessing Team and Consecration Team; and they made boats with boxes to relay in
performing mission trip to foreign lands. They enjoyed leaping and dancing with joy.
To add the joy of the day the elderly sisters from Scholastica House appeared as a guest star
performing the “Silver Aerobic Dance” touching hearts of the sisters. The last event was to pass
the important sentences of Holy Rule and Constitutions from one sister to next one without
having any mistake. This game made the sisters to think once more our community and
consecrated life.
Sisters had the Vespers in the inner court followed by delicious dinner with happy mood. The
130th
Jubilee Celebration was closed by 8 PM after the “Synchronized Night Prayer” during
which the history of the congregation was made by PPT and shown to the sisters.
The event was simple but meaningful to the sisters. We thanked God for His love and blessing
to our congregation and asked His continued blessing upon us!

Korean Thanksgiving Day “Chuseok”
Chuseok is one of Korea’s three major holidays, along with Seollal (New Year’s Day) and Dano
(the 5th
day of the 5th
month of the lunary year) and is also referred to as Hangawi. Han means
“big” and gawi means “the ideas of August or autumn” (August 15th
according to the lunar
calendar is when the full harvest moon appears).
Many Koreans will visit their family homes to spend quality time together, and the holidays
provide a good opportunity to enjoy traditional cultural experiences throughout Korea.
At the priory house celebrated the holiday praying for the deceased, specially our ancestors and
sisters who were called back to heaven before us. Sisters made half-moon shaped rice-cake
called Songpyeon which is one of the quintessential dishes for Chuseok.
