GREEN TARA SEMINAR WITH TULKU THUBTEN RINPOCHE

The Tibetan Language Institute of Los Angeles is extremely pleased to announce a series of teachings on GREEN TARA to be given by TULKU THUBTEN RINPOCHE. Tulku Rin-poche is an extraordinary Tibetan Lama of great intellect, profound compassion, and wonderful humor. Many people find it very uplifting just to be in his presence. Rinpoche is a scholar, a master calligrapher and an excellent teacher, who teaches in fluent English.

We are blessed that Rinpoche will be with us for eleven days, from Friday, November 2 through Monday, November 12. He will teach three different programs that each have to do with Green Tara.

Tibetan Calligraphy Workshop <- +- <J- +- X- <J- +- <J- J- @-

November 5-9: On Monday through Friday evenings, Rinpoche will teach a workshop on traditional Tibetan calligraphy. No prior knowledge of Tibetan or calligraphy is necessary. We’ll learn to write Tara’s mantras, seed syllable and much more. Materials will be available for purchase in class.

Translation Workshop November 10-12 (Saturday through Monday): With Rinpoche’s guidance, we will be translating se-lected passages from Tibetan of the Green Tara Sadhana. Although this program is designed for peo-ple who can read the Tibetan script and use the Tibetan dictionary, anyone interested in furthering their understanding of Green Tara and the essence of the Buddha’s teaching is welcome. Materials will be available for purchase in class.

Green Tara Teachings November 2-4 (Friday evening through Sunday after-noon): Rinpoche’s teachings will focus on Green Tara (Drolma, grol ma; She Who Liberates). Tara is the pro-tectress of those in trouble and having difficult times. She is the embodiment of peace, love, compassion and wisdom. Tara is known as the mother of all the Buddhas.

There will be an Introductory Lecture Friday evening, with teachings continued in depth through the week-end. Recommended reading before the Seminar: Tara, the Feminine Divine, by Bokar Rinpoche. Available through TLI (see registration/order form below).

This series of teachings is intended for anyone who has an interest in deepening their understanding of the Buddha’s teaching.
