Goals

• Content Goal: Students will begin to develop their ideas and thesis statements for their grant writing individual research papers and will gain insight into expectations through the examples.

• Language Goal: Students will further develop their understanding of the separate sections of the paper as well as the parts of the paragraphs.

• Social Goal: Students will transition well between different activities and will work well individually.

Group Work

• In your groups, read through paragraph number 3.

• Match the sections/numbers from the paragraph with the areas listed below.

• After each group has gone through paragraph 3, we will go over the answers as a class.

• Complete the same process for paragraph 4

Paragraph 3: Explanation of Organization, Goals and Objectives

• In depth explanation of what your plan/program/organization is that will be working towards fixing the problem that you have detailed in paragraph 2

• Research that states why your plan/program/organization will work

• What specific goals are you trying to achieve?

• What measurable milestones will you reach in meeting those goals?

• How will you and the funder know that you are making progress towards your goals?

Paragraph 4: Methods and Schedule/Evaluation

• What actions will you take to achieve your goals? What steps must you take to achieve success?

• Who will do what? (Include here job descriptions and background statements of staff or the qualifications you will seek in staff for the project. This is true even if "staff" will actually be volunteers.)

• When will these actions take place? What is your plan for rolling out your organization/plan/program?

• How will you know whether you are achieving your goals?

• What will you measure to evaluate your progress?

• What records and information will you keep to allow you to measure your progress?
