FOOD SECURITY IS A BIG ISSUE! Some thing we do in addition to learning

about it is a simulation The “$12 meal challenge”

Students prepare a healthy meal for 5-6 people that includes and appetizer, main dish, dessert and beverage (no prepackaged food)

The hard part? You can only spend $12 total!!

This would be similar to the budget of a low income family or single-parent family

General Course Description

This compulsory Grade 10 Course explores the local national and global forces that have shaped the Canadian identity from World War 1 to the present.

Students will learn and use some of the historical thinking concepts listed below to:

understand issues and events:historical significanceusing primary sources as evidencedetermining cause and effectshort and long-term consequencesdrawing conclusions and making predictions
