Goodwood History Goodwood is a cotton plantation and one of the finest

antebellum plantation houses ever built in this region. Established by hardy Croom in the 1830’s. Later inherited by his brother after a tragic steamboat accident. Since the original owner, multiple families have lived on the plantation surrounding the world war I era.

The plantation is now a historic house museum that features, in each room, original family furniture, textiles, glassware, and art from the families who had once lived there.

Goodwood plantation captures the essence of the different families who lived on the plantation. “In the Main House the rooms are displayed just as they were in the years surrounding World War I”(goodwoodmuseums).

*(outside the main house) Goodwood has a strict no mowing rule. Emplaced to help preserve the authenticity of Goodwoods gardens.
