G o Fo r A M o r n i n g sw i mSwimming is a great way to exercise! Facilities like the Waco Water Park provide a fun, and healthy activity for the entire family. The park features two towering water slides, a competition pool, beach-entry pool, party pavilions, locker rooms and concession area.

WACO WATer PArKWaco Water Park is an ideal place to host group parties, family gatherings or business events.

The park will start hosting private functions in May and will open to the public during the summer.

The entire park is available for rental or shade pavilions can be reserved throughout the summer.

spray ParksThe City of Waco Parks and Recreation De-partment offers six spray parks that shoot streams of water in every direction.

The free-admission parks will be open until cold weather arrives, then they will re-open next spring.

The spray pads are located at Camer-on Park (Univ. Parks/Herring), Kendrick Park (4011 Bagby), Chapel Park (9420 Chapel Rd.), Dewey Park (925 N. 9th), Mountainview Park (2325 Mountain-view) and Heritage Square (300 Austin).

Cameron Park University Parks Drive and Herring AvenueOne of the largest municipal parks in Texas, Cameron Park is a Waco treasure. More than 20 miles of hike and bike trails weave through natural vegetation and limestone cliffs to provide stunning views of the Waco area. A variety of recreation spots, environmental areas and scenic overlooks are located throughout the park, which recently received more than $7 million in renovations.

Brazos Park East 2000 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.Overlooking the convergence of the Bosque and Brazos rivers, Brazos Park East fea-tures breathtaking cliff-front scenery. The park is a mix of trees and open fields and includes horseshoe pits, a disc golf course, boat docks and fishing spots. The park will reopen in the coming months.

Cameron Park Disc Golf Course Cameron Park/Brazos Park EastWith towering trees, open fields and a waterfront view, Waco is home to two of Texas’ best disc golf courses. Played with a Frisbee-like disc, disc golf is a fun and free activity for all ages.

Cameron Park Zoo 1701 N. 4th StreetEscape into the wild and explore the new Asian Forest exhibit at Cameron Park Zoo. The zoo is adjacent to the Brazos River and encompasses 52 acres of lush na-tive vegetation. Party and meeting packages available.

Cottonwood Creek Golf Course 5200 BagbyWith an 18-hole championship course, a junior course, driving range and a fully stocked shop, Cottonwood Creek Golf Course is Waco’s home for golf. The course is open daily and offers a variety of memberships, leagues and tournaments.

Indian Spring Park and Suspension Bridge 100 University Parks Dr.Indian Spring Park and the Suspension Bridge exemplify the spirit of Waco. The park features the historic bridge, which was built in 1870, and the new Chisholm Trail statues. The park also features an amphitheater that overlooks the Brazos River. Located in the heart of downtown, the park is ideal for a picnic or a stroll along the river. Available for rental.

Heritage Square 3rd Street and Austin AvenueHeritage Square links downtown and the Brazos River with walkways, fountains and landscaping. The square serves as a community gathering place that hosts a variety of special events and beautifies the downtown area. Available for rental.

martin Luther King Jr. Park 100 Martin Luther King Blvd.On the east banks of the Brazos, Martin Luther King Jr. Park features picnic areas, a riverwalk and an overlook tower of downtown Waco. The park also features a lighted mural of Martin Luther King Jr. painted by local artist Ira Watkins.

Waco Riverwalk and Cameron Park trails Along the Brazos RiverStretching along both sides of the river, from Baylor University to Cameron Park, the Waco Riverwalk and trails are ideal for a scenic stroll, a refreshing jog or a cruise on a bike. The riverwalk includes concrete paths along both sides of the river. More than 20 miles of soft-surface hike and bike trails wind through the Cameron Park trail system, which is designated as a National Recreation Trail.

Waco mammoth Site 6220 Steinbeck BendThe Waco Mammoth Site sits in more than 100 acres of wooded parkland. The site features a climate-controlled dig shelter and a suspended walkway that provides visitors with an overhead view of several specimens, including a large bull mam-moth and a camel that lived in Central Texas approximately 68,000 years ago. For hours of operation, visit www.wacomammoth.org or call 750-7946. Waco Skate Park 1301 BernardWaco Skate Park is a concrete, lighted skate facility filled with ramps, rails and other equipment. The park is open to the public daily at no charge.

Bledsoe-miller Park and Community Center 300 Martin Luther King Blvd.Bledsoe-Miller Park is a riverfront area next to the Suspension Bridge. The park features a pavilion, a new playground, soccer field and fishing dock. Bledsoe-Miller Community Center, which has a wellness room, gym, game room and meeting room, is also in the park. South Waco Community Center 2815 SpeightThe newly renovated South Waco Community Center is now open to the public. With more than 30,000 sq. ft. of room, South Waco Community Center provides an abundance of op-portunities and activities for youth and the surrounding community. The center features new meeting rooms, workout equipment and more.

Dewey Community Center 925 N. 9th StreetLocated in Dewey Park, Dewey Community Center offers educational and entertainment opportunities for the surrounding community. Available for rental.
