Long after the

Flood,people onearth made a plan.

"We will builda great citywith a tower right up to the

heavens," they said. "Let'slive together always."

Everyone spoke thesamelanguage.

God wanted people to live all acrossthe world He had made. So He did

something special. Suddenly,groups of peoplespoke

differently. God gavethem new languages.

Those who spoke the same language moved awaytogether. Perhaps people became afraid of others

they could not understand. In this way, God causedpeople to fill different

countries.

The city theyleft wascalled

Babel, which meansConfusion.

Years later, in aplace called Ur of

the Chaldees, Godspoke to a mannamed Abram.

"Leave this land,"God commanded."Go to the land Iwill show you."

Abram obeyed. God led him to Canaan. His wifeSarai and nephew Lot went with him.

In Canaan, bothAbram and Lotbecame rich. They had large herds

of cattle. There was not enoughpasture for so many animals.

Lot's herdsmenquarreled withAbram's herdsmen. "Let there be

no trouble," Abram said. "We willseparate. Lot,you take firstchoice of the land you want."

Lot chose a great grassy plain dottedwith cities and villages. It looked

good. But the cities were verywicked places.

After Lot left, Godspoke againto Abram. "I give all the land of

Canaan to you and your childrenforever." Abram and Sarai had nochildren. How couldGod keep His

great promise?

Three men from God came to Abram and Sarai.

"You'll have a babysoon," they said. Sarai laughed. She did not believeGod's message. She was ninety yearsold. God told

Abram he would now be called Abraham {"exaltedfather"} and Sarai would be Sarah {"princess"}.

God also told AbrahamHe would destroy the

two wickedcities ofSodom andGomorrah.Abraham'snephew Lotlived in Sodom with his

family.

Lot believed God'swarning when it came,

but his daughters'husbands refusedto leave Sodom.How tragic! Theydidnt believeGod's Word.

Only Lot and his twodaughters made it

to safety. Fire andbrimstone fell uponthe wicked cities.

back as she ran. Sheturned into apillar of salt.

their old age,just as God hadsaid. How theyrejoiced whenIsaac was born!

This Bible story tells us about our wonderful God whomade us and who wants us to know Him.

God knows we have done bad things, which He calls sin.The punishment for sin is death, but God loves us so

much He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a Cross and be

punished for our sins. Then Jesus came back to life andwent home to Heaven! If you believe inJesus and askHim to forgiveyour sins, He will do it! He will come and

live in you now, and you will live with Him forever.

If you want to turn from your sins, saythis to God:

Dear God, I believe that Jesus died for me and

now lives again. Please come into my life andforgive my sins, so that I can have new life now,and one daygo to be with You forever. Help me

to live for You as Your child. Amen.
