Few places in Britain can match Glamis Castle

for romantic and royal connections.

Ever since 1376, when Sir John Lyon brought his royal bride

Princess Joanna, to Glamis, countless other royal figures

have been enchanted by its romantic aura and setting.

Among them were James VI of Scotland (James I of

England) and Mary Queen of Scots.

It was the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth The

Queen Mother, and HRH The Princess Margaret was born

here. The Queen Mother and King George VI – then the

Duke and Duchess of York – spent their honeymoon at

Glamis in 1923 and spent the summers of the interwar years

here with the young princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.

As you and your guests make your way down the

mile-long avenue to reach the castle in its beautiful

Scottish parkland the sense of occasion will be

immense.

Glamis boasts many beautiful locations and

settings, both outside and indoors, for the

wedding ceremony – whether religious or civil –

the reception and wedding banquet.

Capturing some of the best moments on film

will be of importance to you so while your guests

are taking a guided tour of the castle you can

choose to be photographed in some of the stately

rooms. This includes the 17th century Drawing

Room, the evocative Queen Mother’s Sitting

Room or in the more ancient Crypt.

Wilde Thyme are an award winning catering and party design

company based in Perthshire.

Headed up by former Gleneagles Executive Chef, Andrew Hamer,

Wilde Thyme is one of the country’s finest outside caterers.

They pride themselves on our exceptional level of catering

and service and are renowned for their attention to detail.

Wilde Thyme source all of their ingredients from Scotland’s

finest suppliers and wherever possible incorporate local

produce into their menus such as produce from the Glamis

estate.

WEDDINGS OUR SERVICES A dedicated event organiser will assist you in co-ordinating

your wedding. Their attention to detail, expertise in planning

and organisational flair means you and your family can be

much more relaxed on the day.

ACCOMMODATION Although the castle does not provide accommodation we can

recommend a host of local hotels and bed & breakfasts.
