Remarks by Chris Pinn: "K6132 was the fourth production Gladiator and was manufactured in February/March 1937 as part of the initial order batch of 23 aircraft. These early aircraft were fitted with mountings which only allowed the installation of Lewis guns under the wings. Later aircraft were equipped with mountings which allowed the fitting of either Vickers, Lewis or Colt-Browning guns according to availability. 11/30/2011. The Gladiator was the last RAF biplane fighter, designed as a private venture toSpecification F.7/10. The pictured aircraft is an ex RAF aircraft, s/n L8032, and built in 1937. It

entered the civil UK Registry asG-AMRK on May 16, 1952. It is pictured in the livery of a Royal Norwegian AAF aircraft, '423'that was destroyed on the ground at Oslo, Norway, during the German invasion in April 1940.Later it was re-sprayed in the livery of a 1938 RAF No. 73 (Fighter) Squadron aircraft wearingthe serial K7985 as seen in this photo taken August 7, 2011.

Photographed at Old Warden on 18 May 2004. Part of the Shuttleworth Collection, inNorwegian Air Force markings, RAF serial L8032. Built in 1937.The number 423 refers to an RNoAF Gladiator which was unserviceable when Norway wasinvaded by Germany on 9 April 1940, and destroyed on the ground at Oslo/Fornebu that day.

The Gloster Gladiator was the last British biplane fighter, a development of the Gauntlet with anenclosed single seat cockpit, cantilever landing gear and with increased armament, and a 2 bladefixed pitch propeller. First flown in 1935, the Gladiator went into service with the RAF in 1936.The Mark I had a 840 hp Bristol Mercury IX air-cooled engine and the Mark II a BristolMercury VIIIA engine.This aircraft was owned by Gloster Aircraft Ltd, Feb. 23, 1948-1950, and stored at Hucclecote,1944-Nov. 1950.Went to Air Service Training Ltd, Hamble, Nov. 1950, delivered by road and used as aninstructional airframe.Owned by Vivian Bellamy/Flightways Ltd, Eastleigh, Dec. 1951-1953; registered as G-AMRK,

June 13, 1952.At Gloster Aircraft Ltd, Hucclecote, Aug. 1953-1960; flew as K7985 and L8032 during the1950's.
