Children’s Mental Health Week 2020

Next week is Children’s mental health week and a fitting time to launch the health and

happiness element of our planned curriculum. Set up by children’s mental health char-

ity Place2Be, the week shines a spotlight on the importance of children and young peo-

ple’s mental health. This year’s theme is Find your Brave. Our very own well-being champions, Oscar, Samuel, John and

Charlie have spent time planning focussed, daily activities with Miss Patterson and Mrs Shirley which support children’s

developing understanding of the mind and ways in which we can look after and nurture this part of our body.

Our launch assembly was held this morning. During this we started to explore what being brave means and how it can

look very different for different people and that this is okay.

One of the initial activities is a ’Find Your Brave’ celebration activity which we are encouraging the children to partici-

pate in over the weekend – see separate sheet that will come home with your child.

Please help us to raise awareness of the importance of supporting children and young people's mental health during the

week.

Y5/6 Swimming Gala

Friday 17 January

On Friday 17 January, a team of year 5 & 6 children took part in a local swimming gala, competing

against other schools from our area. The children swam in a range of heats and finals, using a wide variety of strokes. It was great to see the hard work from recent swimming lessons pay off.

Mrs Stanley was amazed by the effort, endurance and fantastic team spirit displayed and this

was rewarded by the team finishing 2nd overall. What an achievement, well done everyone!
