I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the Gettysburg Stars and Stripes sale. The sale will be held in the historic town of Gettysburg, PA. The sale host Tom and Barbara Vossler along with a great group of breeders have assembled a star spangled offering of genetics. The sale last year was a big success with cattle selling to 18 different states and 4 Canadian provinces with the customer approval rating high. Also, those in attendance had a great time so it will be worth the drive to Gettysburg. Over the past years many breeders have commented on the sale, the people and the beautiful setting of the historic town of Gettysburg. The sale being the first Saturday in May the Stars and Stripes group of breeders are able to offer more bred cows and pairs. For the past several years this always seems to be many of the sale highlights. The cows selling are ones that are proven so these young cows have been money makers and can continue to do so for your operation. The pairs with their calves at side are always a good addition for any program. The bred’s are functional and the opens consist of yearling and some young fall born’s. In both age groups you can select your favorite to show at the Junior Nationals in Lima, Ohio. The donors are lead by the War Diva progeny plus donors from Buena Vista and the Messick’s. As sale manager, I encourage you to study the catalog and visit with the Stars and Stripes breeders, they know their cattle and stand behind their product 100%. The Gettysburg area is pretty the first part of May so try to visit some of the area attractions. Plan to arrive early and stay late. You will find the Gettysburg Stars and Stripes group have a great group of genetics, and provide super hospitality along the way. If we can provide assistance on any matter or help with your selections please feel free to call Drew, Holli, or myself. Also, if you can attend sale day don’t forget to bid online, trucking and all the needed assistance is available. If you have never attended this sale it is worth the drive. You will have many years of memories of your trip to Gettysburg, the people, the Battlefield and if you happen to purchase genetics for your herd your operation will reap the rewards for years to come.

Sincerely,

DP Sales Management

As the host farm for the Annual Gettysburg Stars and Stripes Sale, Barbara and I wish a sincere welcome to friends and prospective buyers to the 5th Annual Sale. Once again, the Stars and Stripes Sale Group of breeders, have brought in superior Simmental genetics for your consideration. Our sale last year covered a lot of geographic territory in the U.S. and in Canada in terms of sold cattle. This alone speaks in testimony of the quality offered in this sale.As in previous years, sale cattle will be placed in open lots here on the farm prior to sale. They will be sorted by kind, relaxed and grazing so you can view them in their natural state. The sale consignors and breeders will be available throughout the day on Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th to answer any questions you might have. The actual sale will be held Saturday afternoon in our sale barn facility immediately adjacent to the open lots. A sale day lunch will be provided, courtesy of the Stars and Stripes Sales Group. The Adams County (PA) Beef Producers Association will be preparing the meal in benefit to their Junior Programs. For those of you who cannot make it to the sale but will be viewing it on the internet through EDJE Technologies, you are most welcome to participate in the sale. We have a long-standing working relationship with EDJE Technologies and their excellent service adds value to the sale as well as customer satisfaction in purchasing quality animals via online viewing and bidding. For those of you who have not been to Gettysburg before, you will find attending this sale can be a great family mini-vacation with plenty of history, antiques and other attractions to keep you busy in addition to the cattle sale. Come early – stay for the weekend. We have arranged for a complimentary two-hour guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield on Friday afternoon leaving the sale barn at 1:00 pm. See more detailed battlefield tour information elsewhere in this catalog. While you are at the farm on Friday afternoon viewing the cattle, plan on staying for an evening meal with the consignors and buyers. A Pre-Sale Supper will be served at the house at 6:00 pm Friday. May 4th, courtesy of Mountain View Farm. You will find in this catalog reserved hotel information for your stay. We highly encourage you to call and make your reservations early as this sale occurs at the start of the Gettysburg tourist season and the hotel will hold the reserved rooms only until April 19th. We look forward to seeing you here. Sincerely,

Tom and Barbara Vossler Mountain View Farm

• Wind Song has materialized into an outstanding two year old who has surpassed our expectations! Her maternal ability proves the value of her noteworthy dam WAR Diva M704, the only purebred dam who produced four national champions. 704W has settled on her first service AI each breeding season, picking up two weeks in her calving interval. Quality, soundness of structure, correctness, fertility, femininity, and style are among the prominent traits. She is definitely a flush quality donor prospect. Her flush mate sister was the top selling open yearling heifer at the 2011 Stars and Stripes sale and is now a donor in the herd of Clover Valley Simmentals of Ramsey, IN. Wind Song has an excellent udder with great teat placement and abundant milk flow, like her mother. Her calf CLO Windswept 4Y shows that her dam can produce the “keeping kind” of replacement female. This calf, line bred to Dream On in very sound, stylish, with a load of quality. She will show! When you look at the pedigree of the pair you’ll find several breed notables: Diva, Dream On, In Dew Time, Pays To Dream; all of which trace back to the 107W cow family. To add to the value to the package. Wind Song sells safe in calf to the Hudson Pines herdsire “ Shock Force” who is out of the notable “Sazerac” donor dam. The resultant calf will have two highly prolific dam’s of the breed in her tabulation. Invest in the Legacy! BVD-PI negative, OCV. Safe in calf.• AId to CLRWTR Shock Force, ASA# 2496698 due on 9-15-12.

• Queen 50X is the oldest of our Club King daughters in this years Stars & Stripes sale and another direct WAR Diva daughter. She has been admired not only for her lineage but also for her phenotype. To add value she sells safe in calf to MVS Maximus, former National Champion bull. Phenotypically and genetically the potential of this mating is outstanding. Her dam’s sire was the Supreme Champion at the Western Canadian Agribition a few years back. • Selling 3 Embryos Guaranteeing 1 Pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist.• SVF Breath Taker was a popular sale entry in the Denver sale many years ago. Her show career still is in the record books being one of the few if not the only Triple Crown females in the breed. Her legacy lives on thru her many progeny like the Nadine donor of Simme Valleys and of the course the Steel My Breath that was sold at last years Stars and Stripes. She commanded a price of $7,000 and was purchased by Bangma Simmentals. We appreciate Donald’s support as a buyer and participant in past sales. Now the Bangma family is further south residing on the Alabama/Tennessee line at Leoma, Tennessee. Since this female sold in the last year’s sale we welcome the genetics and the Bangma family thru their continued support of the sale. Steel My Breath has been flushed to the superior producer JF Milestone. The progeny out of Milestone have been stand outs for Hudson Pines, Janssen Farms, and Guthridge. Many have been sale toppers and claimed banners in the show ring. With your purchase of these embryos and a little luck this could have big time rewards. Steel My Breath is homozygous polled. • When we asked Dalton Lundy several years ago to find us a good Power Stroke cow little did we know what impact the “Madonna” female he found would have on our program. Eight daughters in our herd and a great young sire have more than validated this females’s worth. Simply put, this cow is tremendous – both on paper and in person. She is massive in her rib shape and dimension, structurally sound, and loaded with maternal power and milk. Offspring have been champions at KILE, PA Farm show and class winners in Louisville. She most recently produced both the Grand Champion female at the 2010 PA State Farms show and the Grand Champion Female at the 2010 PA State Farms Show and The Grand Champion bull in 2011. Give Matt Blauch at 717-383-3558 to discuss the quality of this outstanding donor. Super fertile, she has been flushed twice delivering 15 and 23 eggs. • Here is a great opportunity. This heifer calf pregnancy is full of great pedigrees and great possibilities. The only reason this pregnancy is offered for sale is because we have three phenomenal calves on the ground and wanted to share this with you and bring our best genetics to the Stars and Stripes. We could write a book about her pedigree but I’m sure you all know about the great things SVF Steel Force has done and the multitude of Champions he has sired in the past few years, too numerous to mention. Then the bottom side is just as powerful and well known. Triple C Crazy Queen was a top selling donor at the Triple C dispersal for $26,000. She is the dam of numerous top cattle and donors such as Bill Fulton’s, Triple C Queen Supreme and many others. The homework has been done for you. Now you can sit back and reap the rewards. If in good health and condition at the time of weaning, Simme Valley will pay $2,000 to buy back the heifer calf on side. Breeding information will be provided at sale. BVD-PI negative. Homozygous black and Homozygous polled.

• Here is a female with a lot of breeding possibilities. Abilgail is a young solid red female with no Dream On in her pedigree. She is a very feminine made female that would work whether your wanting to produce top notch females or your next stud bull. She has a really nice udder and is doing great job with her first calf. He is a thick made solid red bull calf sired by the now deceased Triple C Ultimate Force. He could do a good job in paying for her in just her first calf. Don’t miss out!!!

• Wow! This cow has been functioning at a high level at the club calf industry and is now ready for the purebred pursuit. This blaze faced female is second to none. After seeing this Silversmith calves surfacing to the top we bred her with confidence to him. Silversmith is one of the few bulls who sires both great females and males. Silversmith was calf champion in both Denver and Ft. Worth. As a mature bull he was Ohio Fair State Champion, Supreme Champion at Keystone International and Division Champion at NAILE and Denver. GETTYSBURG. A name widely known in U.S. and World history. In the third year of the American Civil War, 90,000 Northern soldiers, 70,000 Southern soldiers, 72,000 horses and mules, over 600 cannon, met in mortal combat in three days of battle. This was the largest battle ever conducted on the North American Continent. The battle was conducted over 6,000 acres of approximately 38 separate farms surrounding the town of Gettysburg. Mountain View Farm, host farm for the Gettysburg Stars and Stripes Sale, sits less than two miles from the battlefield. The Stars and Stripes Sales Group is pleased to offer a complimentary tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield as part of this year’s annual sale. Tour leader this year is Dr. Carol Reardon of Penn State University. Carol is currently on a one year assignment to the U.S. Army War College in nearby Carlisle Barracks, PA. She is a national award winning author of several military histories to include “Pickett’s Charge in History and in Memory”, a principal part of the Gettysburg Battlefield story. Carol is also co-owner of two of the producing dams in the Mountain View Farm herd. To reserve your space(s) on this widely popular battlefield tour, call Tom or Barbara Vossler at 717-337-1615. If no answer to your call, leave a voice mail with your name and head count for the tour. The tour will depart the sale barn on Friday, May 4th at 1:00 pm and will last about two and one-half hours giving you plenty of time to view the cattle prior to the complimentary supper at the farm house at 6:00pm. For those of you staying over for a long weekend (what a great idea) Carol and Tom will be available to you on Sunday afternoon May 6th for a battlefield tour departing the farm at 12:00 noon.
