Rippa Rugby Training

Thank you Logan Solly and Dan Darwen for giving up your time to help train up the school Rippa Rugby teams in readiness for their big tournament in Nelson. The children are very enthusiastic about their training sessions and are enjoying improving their skills.

School Saturday Netball Thank you to Kylee and Melissa for organizing our two school netball teams and running practices for them at afternoon breaks.

Motupipi Magic played against the Bumblebees from Collingwood on Saturday. We had a loss this time, but the girls showed some amazing defensive work and passing skills.

Our player of the day went to Jasmine (from Central) who never gave up chasing the ball, and had some awesome intercepts and tips.

The Mystics had a bye last week, but are back playing against the Silver Kiwis at 9.45am at the Rec Centre. Magic are up next, again the Breakers at 10.30am.

Hope to see you courtside!

Weekend Rugby

I play for Takaka Under 8s. We get up to the showgrounds at 9.30 am and it is quite cold. Our team has been doing well. We are getting better at blowing over, when a player is on the ground and our scrums are getting stronger. Saxon and I are really good at blowing over. Ashton C. I scored four tries last weekend because I am a fast runner. I felt pretty proud. I play tackle rugby and I am getting better at tack-

Weekend Football

I went really well and scored two goals. I defended well and helped stop quite a lot of goals. I like playing football. It was really cold and there was snow down low on the hills. I was only wearing a t.shirt. Kian. Last Saturday it was really cold and I was freezing. I scored two goals and had to go and get some hot chips to warm up. Rosy.

U10 Rugby - by Jack Rm5

On Saturday we went over the hill to play rugby. The under nines came on the bus with us, when we got there it was freezing. I scored one try. We lost, I think it was 65 - 40. We had a snow fight on the top of the Takaka hill.

U9 Rugby - by Teru Rm5

On Saturday I played rugby over the hill in Upper Moutere. It was a boring trip over the hill, no one in my team got sick. We were finally in Upper Moutere, it was freezing cold. We did a few warm ups and then we were on. We played the easiest team we had played, I scored 8 tries with a lot of help we won 85 to 40. We have won all our games this season. We went back on the bus and on the way back we went to McCafe and had some food and had a snow fight on top of the Takaka hill.

Teacher Appointments If any parents wish to see a teacher about a concern please make an appointment to see that teacher at a mutually convenient time after school. It is helpful if both parties have time to plan for the meeting. Between 8.30—9.00am each day, and impromptu parent/teacher chats may often result in an unresolved issue and a disorganised start to the day. Thanks Judy

Chess Tournament

At the Chess Tournament I enjoyed the Knights Tour. At the Chess

Tournament I learnt to use my Queen more. Kier

I really enjoyed playing chess and I want

to improve on using my King more. Joe

I really enjoyed the Chess

Tournament. My favourite thing was that I got a Gold

Medal. I’m going to the National Champs in

Hamilton. Jay

On Wednesday we went to the

Chess Tournament in Nelson. It was really fun playing against other

people and I would like to play more chess at home and on the

computer. Lief

On Wednesday, the Motupipi School Chess team travelled to Nelson to compete in the Regional Chess Power Tournament. All the children played some brilliant games of chess and enjoyed the banter over the chess board. Jay managed a perfect score and won the Gold medal overall. He has further earned the opportunity to play in the National Championships in Hamilton later in the year. As a team, the top five scoring players, Kier, Archie, Jay, Joe and Trey earned Motupipi the Silver medal.

I really enjoyed playing chess yesterday.

I think I played really well. I won three games and tied two. I think I needed to

play more games of chess before. Archie

I really enjoyed the

Chess Tournment. One of my favourite things to

do was stacking chess pieces up the highest.

Holley and I were in a

team together and we came first! We won one

badge to share. Lola

At the Chess Tournament I really enjoyed

playing a little game called the Knights Walk. Bella C
