THE ARMORED FORCES

 

The role of the German army (Bundeswehr) is described in the Constitution of Germany (Art. 87a) as a purely defensive. Its only active role before 1990, was to help during natural disasters at home and abroad. In 1994, the constitutional court defensive term is defined not only as a defense of state borders, but also to prevent other conflicts around the world, which would in any way threaten the state.Until 2011, military service was compulsory for men at age 18, and the intake consisted of six months of service. July 1, 2011, the duty has been officially abolished. After 2001 years in the army could serve women, but do not force their military service. Currently, the army employs about 17 500 women.

CHRISTMASNumber of days off work varies in different countries of the Union State. Nine days are public holidays throughout Germany. They

are: New Year's Day (January 1), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day (May 1),

Ascension, Whit Monday, Day of German Unity (October 3), Christmas (December 25)

LOCAL KITCHENTypical German cuisine disappears, and the

growing influences of cuisines of other countries. The first won the German palate italian who came

the German Football Association (Deutscher Fußball-Bund) is the largest

organization of its kind in the world. Bundesliga, the highest level of

competition in the German football league is the most popular sport in the

country and recorded the world's second largest turnout during the matches of any

sports leagues in the world. German national football team won the cup

championship three times - in 1954, 1974 and 1990. The same times German
