Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Unity in the Body
Ephesians 4:1-6 1 As a prisoner for the LORD, then, I urge you to live
a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble
and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every
effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There
is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you
were called; 5 one LORD, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father
of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
As we prepare for VBS, the summer months, gathering together
for worship, and in the fall to start our 100th Anniversary year, this
devotion from In Touch by Charles Stanley will help us in our growth
together as Christians as the Body of Christ.
“The Church of Jesus Christ is truly unique. It is composed of
people from countless backgrounds, who have a variety of opinions on
many different topics-yet they are one in Christ. As believers indwelt by
the Holy Spirit, we all belong to God’s family and have a special
relationship with one another. We are spiritual brothers and sisters who
are called by our heavenly Father to live in harmony.
Unity in the church occurs when God’s children live in sub-
mission to the Holy Spirit and let Him control their attitudes, emotions,
words, and actions. When the Spirit rules each one, the goal becomes to
please Him in our interactions with others instead of demanding our own
way. This is necessary if we hope to “walk in a manner worthy of our
calling” (Eph. 4:1). continued..
...Unity in the Body continued
Some Christians try to function independently because that’s
easier than living in humility, gentleness, and patience with fellow
believers. But we need each other. The fellowship of believers is an
important part of God’s design for our spiritual growth.
Unity in the church requires a willingness to yield to each
other for the sake of our spiritual family. This kind of self-sacrifice
is fueled by genuine love, which unselfishly acts for the good of
another (agape in Greek). It’s the glue that keeps the body of Christ
together and enables us to live in harmony (Colossians 3:14). When
we hold tightly to God’s words and are knitted together in love, we
honor Jesus Christ and have a strong defense against division and
factions.”
Wow, what words of wisdom for us to consider. With
the Holy Spirit’s help we can do all things through Christ who
strengthens us. Let us hold fast to the task set before us and strive
for perfection. God’s deserves nothing less than our best efforts to
move forward in His kingdom work at Trinity and the surrounding
communities.
Soli Deo Gloria—to God be the glory—for the things He
has done. Enjoy the summer, rest up for our 100th year celebration.
Get involved in the festivities, attend the functions, invite someone
to come with you and worship the Lord with all of your heart, soul,
mind and body. Amen!!
A Benediction from Hebrews 13:20-21
“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal
covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his
will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus
Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen”

News in the Pews… Congratulations to Colette Brunelle who was Confirmed in the faith on Sunday, June 16th at the 9:30am Worship Service. Her Confirmation verse is Proverbs 31:26 “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” After her confirmation, Colette addressed the congregation with her statement of faith. “Confirmation means to me that my relationship with God became stronger and more. That I better understand the gifts and blessings that he has given to me and my family. How I realized how important he is to me in my daily life and that I always need him. I feel more educated and understanding of God’s works and Jesus being our Savior by taking our sins upon him. Confirmation has taught me how much God loves me and how much he’s done for me and everyone else in this world. This is why I truly believe it’s beautiful and important and that it’s only the beginning of my journey with God.
