Trick or Treat. Our members gathered near the Reitz Union before Trick or Treat for the Homeless, an annual event where we go into local Gainesville neighborhoods to collect food and toiletries for St. Francis House.

Lubee Bat SanctuaryMembers washed equipment, cleaned up branches and debris, and went on a tour of Lubee Bat Sanctuary. “I liked that they showed us around the place and let us feed the bats, that was fun,” Meghan Ta said.

Gators March for Babies

Meet the committee chairs:

On Sunday, November 20th, CKI will be participating in Gators March for Babies. You can register by finding our team at marchforbabies.org. The March of Dimes Foundation spreads awareness about the dangers of preterm birth and helps prevent preterm birth in the future. Money raised will go towards research and care for affected families. Contact Morgan or Jose if you have any questions.

For every $5 you donate, you will get a raffle ticket to win the following prizes:

Year: 1stMajor: AccountingFavorite tenet: My favorite tenet is service because I have a passion for helping others and it brings me so much joy to see the happiness on other people’s faces.Favorite event: My favorite CKI event so far has been Rooterville where I helped clean the pig sanctuary and got to see a bunch of cute animals.How she found out about CKI: I found out about CKI when I attended preview, but I was also very active in the Key Club at my high school.

K Kids

Paint the Wall

Painting the 34th Street wall is a UF tradition, and a great way to get your name out in the Gainesville community.

Left: Claudia Diaz and Tyler Fonzi paint the base coat of blue paint. Tyler said, “I went because I thought it would be a cool way to make a mark on town and being a new member, I thought it would be a nice way to bond with my CKI-ers.”

The J.J. Finley Elementary School K Kids meet every other week from 2:30-3:30 pm. This K Kids club was just started this year, with the help of Kiwanis Family co-chair Amy Chang. For the future meetings, Amy plans to include “educational activities that inspire growth and real world developmental

learning at an elementary level.” K Kids is the first part of the Kiwanis family.

“When we cultivate our elementary students, we are preparing them for their potential leadership role in Builders Club, Key Club, Circle K, and finally Kiwanis,” Amy said. “In addition, we

are instilling a vital sense of awareness for the need of service within our community, not only at the elementary level but the collegiate level as well, because of the dynamic relationship Kiwanis branches create.”
