Stoney Creek Church

Welcome to our annual Homecoming Worship Services. For the first time ever “the church” known as “Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church” is gathering as a whole to worship in a location not customar-ily to our history. The reason we are meeting at C. B. Aycock High

School is to give us the opportunity for our entire “Church” to meet together in one wor-ship service. Our prayer is that be “worshiping” together, we can encourage unity and joy.

We are delighted to have Colonel Mark D. Kelly, Commander of the 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, as our speaker.

Colonel Kelly entered the Air Force in 1986, receiving his commission from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Southwest Texas State University. He earned his pilot wings at Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. Colonel Kelly has served as an instructor pilot in the T-37, as an exchange officer with the Royal Australian Air Force and has commanded an F-15E Fighter Squadron. He is a command pilot with more than 5,000 flying hours, including over 400 combat hours in fighter aircraft. He has served in operational F-15E units in the Pacific Air Forces, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Combat Command where he led combat missions over Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq in support of operations Deliberate Force, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Immediately prior to assuming the duties of Commander, 4th Fighter Wing, Colonel Kelly served from July 2007 - September 2008 as Vice Commander, 366th Fighter Wing, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho with duties as Vice Commander, 455th Air Expedi-tionary Wing, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. He has been honored with the following Major Awards and Decorations; Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor Device with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Royal Australian Air Force Chief of Staff Gold Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clus-ters, Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Combat Action Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with four oak leaf, clusters, Combat Readiness Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Recognition Ribbon, National De-fense Service Medal with device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, AF Overseas Ribbon Long, Air Force Expeditionary, Service Ribbon with Gold Border with one oak leaf cluster, AF Longevity Service with four oak leaf clusters, AF Training Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.

Since our last Homecoming we have lost in death six won-derful Christians who were members of our Church. They are as follows: Mrs. Pluma Sullivan (October 18, 2008), Mr. Billy Howell (January 11, 2009), Mr. Donald Cuddington

(April 2, 2009), Mrs. Frances Edmundson (April 16, 2009), Mr. Jim Stone (May 15, 2009), and Mr. Paul Sullivan (August 27, 2009). The flowers and candles on the altar table are placed there to honor the memory and lives and these individuals. We invite a family member to take the appropriate rose home with you following our worship service.

Connect 2 the Creek—Adult Studies resume Nov 1 Are you looking for more on Sundays than being a part of our Worship service. If so come be a part of a new option here at the Creek for adults on

Sunday morning @ 8:30 in Room 201 (children and teen activi-ties available). We are offering a six-week study called, “First and Ten” which encourages us to dig deeper into the guidelines for life God wants us to follow. We began the course in Oct and will conclude this series on Nov 15. However, please don’t let this keep you from joining in our last 3 studies (11/1, 11/8, 11/15).

The “Save Daddy Movie” will have a scene shot in the sanctuary one evening during a weeknight. Anyone who would like to be an extra in that scene needs to get a release form from Randy Mitchum and complete it.

You can call Randy at 919-273-3002 or email [email protected] to get a form.

Dear Church Family, Thank you for your prayers, cards and kind words after the passing of my father. You have been a blessing to us during this time.

On November 14th, the Crusaders for Christ Class will host their annual Christmas Party for the residents of the Free Will Baptist Chil-dren’s Home. The kids will have great enter-tainment, a delicious meal and receive Christ-mas gifts. The gifts are based on wish lists filled out by the residents and $75 is to be spent. If you do not want to shop, someone from our class will shop for you. If you would like to participate in this ministry opportunity, please call Phil or Melody James at 731-2247 or see any Crusader for Christ Class member. Once again we will be hosting a Christmas dinner for the children, and they look forward to your delicious home cooked items! A sign up sheet will be available in your Sunday school class over the next few weeks. Anyone not in a Sunday school class can contact Michele Jones at 242-8666.

One of the most loving things parents can do for their children is set firm bounda-ries with them. This series will help the parents raise their kids to take responsibil-ity for their own actions, attitudes, and emotions. Tools and insights are shared for bringing order to problematic circumstances. Parents will learn to take strides to-ward bringing control to an out-of-control family life, setting limits while still be-ing a loving parent--and above all, instilling in children the godly character that is

the foundation for healthy, productive adult living.

SCYM12.9 — Student Ministries (grades 6-12)

New Sunday Morning Schedule for SCYM November 1st @ 9:45am

In an attempt to be more sensitive to the various ages and needs of all our students in SCYM, we will be making some exciting new changes for Sunday morning beginning November 1st. We realize that there are vast differences in ages of our ministry (6th-12th) and want to be sensitive to those needs. For that reason on November 1st SCYM will begin offering a High School only environment and a Middle School only environment @ 9:45. The HS group will con-tinue to meet in the Fellowship Hall where we hope to improve on the environment for them. The MS group will be meeting in “the Zone.” With the changes comes the need for more Sunday morning teachers. If you would like to help, or if you have questions, please contact Pastor Joey at [email protected] or call at 735-3916.

Pastor Joey is also evaluating the 8:30 environment for SCYM and may be making some changes in the environment in the near fu-ture. However for now this environment will remain the same.

SCYM12.9 welcomes you to come and join us for an incredible, unhindered night of making the name of Jesus famous through our worship, teaching, videos, dramas, and
