Fusion Applications: Integration and Co-existence strategies

Through Fusion Applications, Oracle gave the world an ERP, bridging new age business

functionalities with standards based future technologies. With this next generation ERP solution,

Oracle has proved that innovation still makes a difference. This futuristic ERP has the ability to

enable enterprises tackle their business challenges along with a vision for growth. Thus Oracle

Future application has appeared as a true next generation ERP solution with flexible deployment

models. However this has created a major dilemma–tradeoff between the benefits of next

generation ERP solution and possible risks of destabilizing the business. And if they go for it, all

relevant deployment questions needs to be addressed. Let’s try to find out the answer to this

dilemma by analyzing Oracle’s Application unlimited and Fusion Apps co-existence strategy.

As the name suggests, co-existence strategy primarily addresses the issue, of probable risks that

could arise on replacing the existing architecture with the new one. Co-existence allows the users to

retain their current systems while parallely upgrading it to the advanced version. Oracle Fusion

Applications are designed to augment existing Oracle product lines. Customers do not have to

remove and replace their existing deployments with the new one to get value from Oracle Fusion

Applications Since Fusion Applications is built on Fusion Middleware, it provides a cohesive

technical stack upon which to integrate. This allows for customers to uptake Fusion Applications

over time through standard co-existence strategies and integration techniques.

The Fusion Co-existence strategy is a packaged integration technology model that covers 4

important aspects:

1. Performance and Goal management

2. Compensation Management

3. Network at Work

4. Talent Review

Oracle Fusion Applications include Fusion Financials, Fusion Governance, Risk, and Compliance,

Fusion Human Capital Management, Fusion Procurement, Fusion Project Portfolio Management,

and Fusion Supply Chain Management.

Integration with existing Oracle Fusion Applications is inherent, highlighting the continued

complementary nature of Oracle Fusion Application business processes with customers' existing

solutions.Oracle has designed a clear roadmap for application that the customers can choose

today. There are two clear options - move to Fusion Applications with an incremental approach or

adopt a complete Fusion Apps functional pillar.

A significant percentage of customers who decide to move to early releases of Fusion Applications

may follow the incremental approach so that they can benefit from the new key functionalities from

Fusion Apps and at the same time minimize risks and investments for their business. That's where

co-existence model will play the most critical role. Selecting the application that fits the customer’s

business requirements that complements the customer’s current applications footprint and its

adoption strategy are going to be the key elements of customer strategy. Customers may need to

engage with their strategic advisors to determine how to develop this strategy best considering

their business needs.
