Masthead: The masthead for the DJ magazine doesn’t contrast enough from the background of the image to stand out from the rest of the front cover. It only occupies minimal room, giving more freedom for the main graphic to be the selling point of the magazine.Selling line: “Living and breathing dance music!” The selling line is at first difficult to see, as it’s presented in faint white font, but it had been layered over the main graphic which may give it more importance, making it seem more noticeable at second glance.Cover line: This edition of DJ mag had a free gift CD on the cover. It is also advertised at the top of the magazine which doubled as a cover line. The white font coheres with the cover storied on the rest of the front page.

The main graphic used has been obviously cut out and re-layered on top of the masthead, giving the image an important look. It stands out against the background and the yellow coloured cover lines because they are all ‘warm’ colour and they contrast heavily against the blue and black clothing of the featured artists.

There is a good level of consistency used on the front page, with use of colours and font sizes. This issue does not use buttons because it is a free gift issue, and the use of buttons may give the cover an over crowded look.
