May 27, 2016 Fred Karthaus III, Pastor Vol. 57, No. 11 From the Pastor’s Study It is with great sadness that we received the news of Bro. Judson’s resignation as our Associate Pastor/ Minister of Education. For many years FBC has been blessed by this family and their service to our Lord and His church. It is with great sadness that I not only watch a staff member leave our church, but a friend as well. Please pray for the Blackstocks as they transition to a new season in their lives. Judson and Amy’s last Sunday with us will be June 5 th . In the days ahead we will publish details for the reception that is being planned for them. In the meantime, please continue to love them, pray for them, and encourage them. As we gather for worship this Sunday we will share together the Lord’s Supper. From the Pastor’s Study It is with great sadness that we received the news of Bro. Judson and Amy’s last Sunday with us will be June 5

th. In the days ahead we will publish details for the

reception that is being planned for them. In the meantime, please continue to love them, pray for them, and encourage them.

As we gather for worship this Sunday we will share together the Lord’s Supper. With all the various matters that can divide, there is one person that brings us together, Jesus. Jesus is greater than anything and everything that separates us. When we focus our attention and affection on Him, He draws us to Himself. Education News It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I resign from First Baptist Church with my last day being Sunday June 5th. While this path of leaving First Baptist is not what we would have chosen, it is what we think best for us and for First Baptist. I know that among many of you there is a great deal of confusion and even anger and I understand that, so I make clear to you that this is not what we desire but is what is best under the circumstances for you and for us. There is a great deal that could and perhaps should be said about the state of First Baptist Church and maybe that can come in time, but in the end I encourage you to do what I am trying to do myself and leave this all in the hands of God. He is more than capable of dealing with the situation and always does that which is right and just. Even though we have more recently been in a very difficult period of our lives, I do not wish to grant undue attention to that but instead focus on so many of you who care for and love us just as we care for and love you. We have had many great years and made many memories here in Andalusia that we will always cherish. Our children have largely grown up here; both Hannah Grace and Joshua made their professions of faith here, and I had the privilege of baptizing them in your presence. We have shared many happy occasions in our lives and yours and have also shared some hard times together. You are a part of us and always will be and hopefully we have become a part of you as well. There are many more of you than I could begin to say that have been such a blessing to us in countless ways and we can only hope that we have been even a little bit of a blessing to you in our time here.

Education News [continued]

We move into a new chapter of our lives now that will include Amy returning to the school classroom and the children going into a new experience with school. It will also mean me returning to an area and even people that I have worked with in the past in physical therapy and also seeking what new ways God may lead me to be involved in ministry. Though the future path is still not fully clear for us, we are continuing to try and trust God with it. We will miss you and commend you and your future into the hands of God.

In Christ, Judson
