What’s workedand what hasn’t

What we might do differently

@mattphilip #XP2016

@mattphilip #XP2016

Successes:

• Emergent practices (360s, mobbing, learning goals/”learn around”)

• Coda kata

• Focus on doing things right

Challenges:

• Short and unknown tenure of people/team continuity (“rapture events”)

• The right tech stack and product

• The right ratio of practice mentors to learners (1:1-3)

Successes and Challenges

Being a practice mentor on an onboarding team has helped me keep my teaching skills sharp. I’m pushed daily to a deeper understand of the ‘whys’ behind how we work, so that I can articulate and explain it to our onboarders.

- Chris

I have seen people from the onboarding team go out into other projects and start asking really helpful questions. The onboarding team instills some very important practices and helps shake up the processes of existing teams for the better.

— Ben

I think some of my best work relationships came from the team. I talk to them all the time.

Employees and Retention Rate

Employees Retention % Learning Team

Actually, I don't view the retention aspect nearly as valuable as the productivity and operational benefit from having people first adapt to our way of doing business before landing on a client engagement.

I have had many employees come to me after they had been here a couple weeks and thank me for convincing them to come to Asynchrony. They all let me know that this was the best place that they had ever worked and were delighted that they made the decision to come here... It was typically related to the onboarding team.

- John, talent scout
