Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today’s Gospel invites us to recognize the presence of God in our life, our pains and doubts in
the middle of our sufferings and loneliness. God is always compassionate and attentive to our
needs. He listens when we cry out for justice and truth even when we don’t raise our voices. He
always takes the initiative because his presence heals our wounds. Wounds of injustice, selfish-
ness and lies. Wounds of war and forgetting minorities. Wounds of indifference towards climate change. Let’s show
the mercy of God through our “little actions” and “sacrifices”. Those become roses for the healing of the world. We
invite you to consider this month of October as the best time to continue living our missionary commitment by welcom-
ing the invitation of the Holy Father Pope Francis for The Extraordinary Missionary Month. He states:
“ For the month of October 2019, I have asked that the whole Church revive her missionary awareness and commit-
ment as we commemorate the centenary of the Apostolic Letter Maximum Illud of Pope Benedict XV (30 November
1919). Its farsighted and prophetic vision of the apostolate has made me realize once again the importance of renew-
ing the Church’s missionary commitment and giving fresh evangelical impulse to her work of preaching and bringing
to the world the salvation of Jesus Christ, who died and rose again" (Pope Francis, 2019)
He is calling us to grow in respect for the dignity of men and women, and towards a deeper conversion to the truth of
the Risen Lord who gives authentic life to all.
“We are the church, and every baptized man and woman, is a mission. People in love never stand still: they are
drawn out of themselves; they are attracted and attract others in turn; they give themselves to others and build rela-
tionships that are life-giving” (Pope Francis, 2019)
As a community in Faith let us be pilgrims of prayer, authentic disciples of Jesus by offering our prayers, our services,
our economic support, our community life and mission around our neighborhood. They will turn into blessings for the
Church and a healing response for the poor.
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
El Evangelio de hoy nos invita a reconocer la presencia de Dios en nuestra vida, nuestros dolo-
res y dudas, en medio de nuestros sufrimientos y soledades. Dios siempre es compasivo y aten-
to a nuestras necesidades. Él escucha cuando clamamos por justicia y verdad, incluso, cuando
no alzamos la voz. Siempre toma la iniciativa porque su presencia cura nuestras heridas. Heri-
das de injusticia, egoísmo y mentiras. Heridas de guerra y olvido de las minorías. Heridas de
indiferencia hacia el cambio climático. Mostremos la misericordia de Dios a través de nuestras
"pequeñas acciones" y "sacrificios" que se convierten en rosas de sanación para el mundo. Lo invitamos a considerar
este mes de octubre, como el mejor momento para continuar viviendo nuestro compromiso misionero, acogiendo la
invitación del Santo Padre el Papa Francisco para el Mes Misionero Extraordinario. Él afirma:
“Para el mes de octubre de 2019, he pedido que toda la Iglesia reviva su conciencia y compromiso misionero al con-
memorar el centenario de la Carta Apostólica Illud máxima del Papa Benedicto XV (30 de noviembre de 1919). Su
visión visionaria y profética del apostolado me ha hecho darme cuenta una vez más de la importancia de renovar el
compromiso misionero de la Iglesia y dar un nuevo impulso evangélico a su trabajo de predicación y traer al mundo
la salvación de Jesucristo, quien murió y resucitó “(Papa Francisco, 2019)
El Papa, nos está llamando a crecer en el respeto por la dignidad de los hombres y las mujeres, y hacia una conversión
más profunda a la verdad del Señor resucitado que da vida verdadera a todos.
“Somos la iglesia, y cada hombre y mujer bautizados es una misión. Las personas enamoradas nunca se detienen: son
sacadas de sí mismas; se sienten atraídos y atraen a otros a su vez; se entregan a los demás y construyen relaciones
que dan vida” (Papa Francisco, 2019)
Como comunidad en la fe seamos peregrinos, auténticos discípulos de Jesús al ofrecer nuestras oraciones, nuestros ser-
vicios, nuestra vida comunitaria y la misión en nuestro vecindario, así también, nuestro apoyo económico se convertirá
en bendiciones para la Iglesia y una respuesta de sanación para los pobres.

Los Frailes Carmelitas de San Elías estarán celebran-do el Año de las Vocaciones comenzando este 1ro de
Octubre del 2019. El propósito del año vocacional es
promover la vida religiosa y el llamado al sacerdocio especial-mente para la Comunidad Carmelita de San Elías. Durante este
año tendremos charlas y presentaciones acerca de las vocaciones.

VOCATIONS CORNER
Starting on 1 October 2019, the Carmelite Friars
of St. Elias will be celebrating the Year of Voca-
tions. The purpose of the year is to promote vo-
cations to the priesthood and the religious life,
especially to the Carmelite Province of St. Elias. Through-
out the year, there will be talks and presentations that per-
tains to vocations. The St. Therese statue has been desig-
nated as the “vocations corner” for the year. Please feel
free to check out the pictures, and pick up a holy card both
in English and Spanish and join us as we pray for vocations
to the Carmelite Order. Don’t forget to follow us on Face-
