Editor’s letteran you believe that we are already in March? I for one, am happy that it is nearly springtime, with the equinox just around the corner on

the 20th of the month. We look at sacred sites around the world that people go to celebrate such events and their connection to the chakras. We also delve into the connection between the seven chakras and the lotus flower. Are all of your chakras aligned?

Reader John has written an article for this edition, all about Catherine and Margaretta Fox and the history of spiritualism - which makes for very interesting reading. We also catch up with long-standing reader Sandra.

I’m sure it hasn’t escaped you that we have a man on the cover this month, non-other than Daniel Craig. We celebrate his last outing as James Bond, and speculate just who might replace him, as 007 goes into the new world.

On the health front we look at building strength with resistance bands - you are never too unfit or too old to start with some form of exercise! Then ways to tackle stress, simple things to incorporate into everyday life.

Of course, as always, we can rely on Carol to tell us what our horoscopes will bring us in March and beyond!

Sacred Sites

4 | FREE SPIRIT FREE SPIRIT | 5

The Spring Equinox on the 20th March 2020 will send many people to the English Heritage site - Stonehenge to celebrate.

Of course, Stonehenge is just one of the many wonders of the world. Many people believe that there are in fact seven sacred sites globally, each corresponding to one of our Chakras.

The First Chakra - Mount Shasta - U.S.A

Shasta is considered to be the base and earth chakra, regulating universal life-force. It is volcanic, and it is a question of when it will erupt again, not if! As such you can imagine that the energy is like a geyser - rushing upwards,

reaching for the sky, with an ever-changing shape and structure.

The Second Chakra - Lake Titicaca - South America

The Titicaca Stone can be found in Lake Titicaca in the Island of the Sun, which acts as a central geometric for the second chakra. Standing for all species, evolution, celebrating what is truly new and being born. As well, finding

clarity, and overcoming a feeling that there is a lack of order or predictability in life.

The Third Chakra - Uluru - Australia

The overriding function of this chakra and sacred site is of the future, immortal health, wisdom and vitality of the Earth. Finding a higher purpose and living life with integrity are underlying themes.

The Fourth Chakra - Stonehenge - England

The fourth chakra - the heart is all about the heart and healing, and so it is with this sacred site. Think love, connection, forgiving and letting go of any grudges. Ending pain and suffering, seeing the good in the world and coming full circle in life.

The Fifth Chakra - The Great Pyramid - Egypt

The throat chakra seeks to find, know and speak the truth. Going about life without judging others, whilst not seeking approval from others. Valuing ourselves for who we are, projecting both outwardly and inwardly with honesty.

The Sixth Chakra - Ever changing, with the new Age!

Whatever sacred site the sixth chakra represents, the third eye is the central point, bringing together psychic intuition - clear thinking, awareness and recognition and a strong connection to the astrological constellations.

The Seventh Chakra - Mount Kailash - Tibet

It is this sacred site and chakra where we are most likely to feel connected both physically and psychically. Where seemingly random things, come together with true meaning. Where the universe and us become one.

Where the power of spirituality can be really felt in all its glory!

The Sacred Lotus Flower is associated with the seven Chakras. The unfolding petals are symbolic of the chakras opening up. Four petals are the base centre; the crown is often referred to as ‘the thousand of many-petalled lotus’.

When all of your chakras are aligned, energy flows freely, leaving your spirit, body and mind harmonious. Your different chakras radiate from the higher planes of consciousness, with each shining a different colour from red,

orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo to violet.

The Crown - Sahasrara - I know

This chakra connects you to the highest energy in the universe, providing infinite consciousness. Representing ‘pure thought’ and an ability to seek out spiritual wisdom.

The Heart - Anahata - I love

As you might expect this chakra represents love, compassion and empathy - all of the feelings associated with the heart. But it is also an important chakra for bridging the gap between two worlds - the spiritual and physical.

The Solar Plexus - Manipura - I can

Everything you ever dreamed about, and hope for the future is tied up in this chakra. This is where you have the power to take your fantasies and make them reality. It is your power, your will and vitality all rolled into one.

The Base - Muladhara - I have

This chakra is grounding, it represents the very basics you need to survive, and thrive. It links you to Earth, and gives you the instincts to cope. It is always open and energising.

The Brow - Ajna - I see

To see and understand your past, present and future this chakra must be finely tuned - it is essentially the third eye. Your window to clairvoyance, providing vision that is beyond seeing!

The Throat - Visuddha - I speak up

As you’d expect from the throat chakra, at the heart of this is communication - in all its forms. Importantly, it also represents honesty, spiritual truth and an ability to listen as well as speak. ‘Psychic Hearing’ is enhanced through this

chakra.

The Sacral - Svadhisthana - I feel/I want

Your creativity, your sexuality and your emotions all feed from this chakra. When this chakra is balanced your energy will explode, and you will be propelled into action.

The History of Spiritualism

By Psychic Reader John,

PIN: 5152

A family who moved to a homestead in Hydesville, New York State, USA experienced disturbances - noises, knocking, movements of objects and other unusual phenomena.

The two children Catherine and Margaretta Fox discovered that if they spoke out, then the mysterious noises seemed to respond, and it became clear that the phenomena were not just random manifestations of energy but were under the control of some invisible intelligence.

In a world where such happenings were feared and where religion labelled them as evil, these happenings soon gained the attention of neighbours, family and friends. The news of these happenings spread far and wide; at times many bystanders came to marvel at the unexplained knocking and noises.

On 31 March 1848, the two sisters established intelligent, two-way communication with a spirit person, who was responsible for producing the phenomena. A committee of investigation was formed and they communicated with the spirit who had been harassing

the Fox family. The committee listened out for the response signal knocks and they established that the communicator was Charles Rosna, who had been murdered and buried beneath the cellar of the homestead. An excavation of the cellar later proved that there were indeed the remains of a body buried there.

The publicity which these events aroused and the investigations carried out at the time led to mediumship being discussed openly. The Fox family suffered scorn, ridicule, and persecution but because of them advice came from spirit people as to how to encourage spirit communication. The printing press, cheaper newspapers and books, the improved literacy amongst the people, the rail road and improved postal services meant that many learned about this new spiritual phenomenon and how it could be achieved. In many homes, groups of people met and following the advice, were successful in obtaining spirit communication for themselves. Once communication was established, the spirit people could direct the process and give specific guidance to further help the process.

It became clear that certain people were naturally mediumistic and the new forms of communication enabled strikingly detailed information to be communicated. Spiritual phenomena flowed from the many Spiritualist groups which provided, time after time, personal joyful evidence confirming the existence of a spirit world that could communicate with those still on earth. In just a few years many groups of Spiritualists formed in America to seek psychic phenomena and to consider the

religious implications which lay behind the teaching received from Spirit.

In time, both the phenomena and the teachings attracted the attention of eminent scientists and intellectuals in America and Britain. A Mrs Hayden brought the new knowledge to England and openly demonstrated mediumship here. She was persecuted and insulted by the press and by some in the established Christian church; however, her mediumship was defended by public figures, such as Robert Owen, who embraced Spiritualism after witnessing successful spirit communications with her.

In 1853 the first Spiritualist Church was established in Britain at Keighley in Yorkshire, and the first Spiritualist newspaper ‘The Yorkshire Spiritual Telegraph’ was published in 1855. By the 1870s there were numerous Spiritualist societies and churches throughout the country.

Today, Spiritualism allows all people to witness, and learn for themselves communication with the spirit world. Before, information about such practices was banned and considered dangerous and evil. However, by the events at Hydesville, ignorance and fear concerning the spirit world is passing away and all people can benefit from the love, guidance and wisdom from those who have gone before, who are now progressing in the spirit world.

Testimonials of John’s:

I’ve had a number of readings with John and I love his direct and humorous approach. He has given me insights into situations in my life and why I feel the way I do. Very insightful and beneficial. My late parents and nan have come through to him and it was lovely and reassuring to hear their thoughts and advice. As John’s insights come to pass as the days and weeks move forward, it lets me realise that I am on the right path. I want to thank John for his wonderful guidance and for bringing a smile to my face. Thanks John. P

John was absolutely wonderful. My dear Mum passed away in mid-May and last night I felt I needed to touch base with her as I was upset and missing her so much. I selected John, and through his obvious talent and expertise he was able to pass on Mum’s messages to me - such a consolation during this time. Dad also came through. John’s gentle, warm, reassuring and light-hearted approach was perfect. John also conveyed some facts about my future. By the end of the reading I was at peace within myself. Thank you, John for putting me at ease and for giving me the opportunity to connect with Mum and Dad. I would recommend John with all my heart. PV

Just had a reading with John connected straight away with lots of family members that had passed over was so specific about them all that I recognised then straight away! As soon as he started speaking to me, he said he didn’t need to even do the cards as he knew passed over family were coming through to talk to me. He was brilliant!!! Reassuring and calmed me down so much. Carmelina

At the start of the film, James Bond is not actually in service. He is no longer working for Her Majesty’s Service, and is in fact living in the Caribbean. Jamaica is seen as Bond’s spiritual home, where his journey started.

The Story“His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”

DirectorThe making of this film has not been without its problems. In fact, filming wrapped on the very day it should have originally been showing in cinemas. Problems go back as far as August 2018 when Danny Boyle quit as Director. He was eventually replaced by Cary Joji Fukunaga, whom you might know from Maniac - a Netflix series and for his work on TV show True Detective where he scooped an Emmy.

Theme SongBond films are famous for their theme songs, this time the accolade goes to Billie Eilish, for a song with the same title as the film. She is in fact the youngest artist to produce a 007 theme. The tune was co-written with her brother - Finneas.

CastMany of the cast are reprising previous roles, such as: Fiennes (M), Lea Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Q), Rory Kinnear (Bill Tanner) and Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter). The new Bond antagonist is played by Rami Malek - his character is called Safin. Lashana Lynch plays Nomi, who so say is set to inherit the 007 code name! Of course, no Bond film would be complete without a love-interest (Paloma), played by Ana de Armas.

Release DateIn UK cinemas from Thursday 2nd April 2020.

Whether you are an avid exerciser, or whether getting fit never quite makes it to the top of your ‘to do’ list, then one thing to try and embrace in 2020 is building strength.

The Impact of AgeUnfortunately, as we age, particularly as we near 40 years old and beyond, our muscle mass declines. Whilst this is a part of ageing for both sexes, there are things that we can do to slow this process, thereby maintaining not just our strength, but also our agility and mobility as well.

Resistance BandsIf you have ever had cause for physiotherapy in your life, you may have been introduced to a length of latex referred to as a ‘resistance band’. But they can be purchased very cheaply in supermarkets, sports shops etc. They often come in different colours, denoting their level of resistance. Bands can also be purchased with handles in place, which can make things easier if grip strength is a problem.

If you are a little shy, then starting at home can be the way to go. If you belong to a gym, then you can incorporate resistance bands into your workout. You may well find that adding some resistance work into your weekly workout schedule, will improve your performance in any other areas of sport that you do. In fact, you can target the band workout for the muscle groups that you use in other sports.

Steady ProgressWhen you are starting out, it makes sense to use the band with the least residence. It will be thinner and will stretch more easily. As you start to see progression and things get easier, you can switch up to the next band resistance level, so you see steady progression.

Aiming for two strength building sessions each week is a great target. Trying for 10-15 repetitions of each exercise. With a total session time of twenty minutes. As time goes on, you might like to increase the sessions per week, but targeting different areas of the body each time. Letting your different muscle groups rest between workouts.

To get you started you might find watching a workout video is helpful:From the British Heart Foundation: tinyurl.com/fsbhfFrom Women’s Health: tinyurl.com/fshealth

5 Reasons to get started with Resistance Bands to Build Strength:

• Can be done anytime, anywhere. • It’s great for any age or fitness level.• Exercises can target every muscle group and body part.• Band exercise can be low intensity and low impact.• You can feel your muscles working, and steady progress will be visible.

So long... Mr Bond.

Who will be the next Bond?Daniel Craig burst onto our screens as James Bond in Casino Royale in 2006, but his reign as 007, comes to an end with No Time to Die. So, that leaves the much-debated question of who will be the next Bond?Plenty of actors have been toted as possible replacements. From Henry Cavill, who more recently has been in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’. Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), could bring a softer take on the game of espionage… Tom Hardy, his Mad Max experience would make him perfect for the demanding role of death-defying stunts that playing Bond requires. Many favour another Tom - Tom Hiddleston for his oh so British Charm! A younger Bond could be played by Nicholas Hoult, but Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, James McAvoy, David Oyelowo, Simon Pegg and Idris Elba have also all been discussed in the press as possible’s, with Idra Elbis having much public support.

The chances are you know what

astrological sign you were born under, but you may not be aware of the element. We explore the 12 zodiac signs and the four elements - Fire, Earth, Air and Water, and the impact they have on your personality and disposition in life!

Astrology ElementsFire

Fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Characterised by their spontaneous and sometimes hot and bold temperament.

Words used to describe those born under Fire are intuitive, positive, creative, visionary and aspiring. They can however be impatient, volatile and hot-tempered!

Just like fire itself, these star signs can burn hot, wild and in an ever-changing direction. They are all consuming in their energy, as they search for meaning in everything.

These star signs have a joyful approach to life - living every moment as if there is something to explore, and a new experience around every corner. They trust their instincts, and for better or worse leap into the new.

Aries most expresses the passion, ego and immediacy of fire. Whilst Leo represents the heart and warmth of fire. Sagittarius is about the journey and the unpredictability.

When Fire signs are at their most balanced, they are inspiring and affectionate - getting things done. When things are off kilter, projects risk over-heating and they themselves

are at risk of burning out!

EarthTaurus, Virgo and Capricorn make up the Earth signs. These signs are

happy as long as their basic needs are met. They are often described as ‘down to earth’, or ‘salt of the earth’ folk.

Productive, practical, determined, conservative and honourable are ways you might describe these Earth signs. They can also be slow to take action, be overly cautious and

sometimes pessimistic, with an overt need to feel secure.

At the heart of these Earth signs is an ability to be self-sufficient. They can be relied upon at home, with family and at work. They are efficient, steadfast and patient.

Earth signs are creative people, and they like to be amongst nature and have a sense of belonging with a tangible connectivity with the world and other human beings. They do not like chaos, they prefer to shape their environment, getting things on a firm footing.

Taurus craves physical interaction with the wider world. Virgo is the most adaptive of the Earth signs, looking for patterns but moving with the changes. Capricorn is the most likely to shape the future, they are very driven.

When Earth signs are off balance, they are likely to spend more time sleeping. They will probably spend too much time in their head, with emotions swimming

around them. Their vision for the future and their ability to take action become slow and lethargic.

AirGemini, Libra and Aquarius are the three Air signs. From a disposition

standpoint, they are lively and communicate with thoughts coming thick and fast.

These Air signs have great instincts, they are intellectual and into technology, but are able to build good rapport with people around them. They are life planners, and don’t shy away

from innovation to get things moving.

You might describe Air signs as positive, forward-thinking and ideas people. On the downside, they sometimes speak before they think and they are not always the most practical of signs.

Air signs are able to process vast quantities of very complex data. That said they may not always be great at seeing how things fit together - they may need to rely on others to get them to the finish line.

All of these signs are driven to discuss ideas and concepts. In relationships they will take a connection based on mutual interests and shared intellect over passion. Material possessions is not a motivator at home or work.

For the most part this sign is rational, intuitive and fair. They can be incredibly graceful and social too.

Gemini, just has to say what is on their mind - but they are adaptable. Libra connects through intellect and the mind above all else. Aquarius is the least able to change. They often have fixed points of

view, and can focus very much on what might be, rather than what is actually happening.

When Air signs are showing signs of imbalance it usually means they are unable to concentrate, and are flitting from one thing to another. At these times their

communication may fail them, with them struggling to get across what they mean.

WaterThe three Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. These signs have great

empathy for others, they are reflective by nature and highly sensitive. They have both good imagination and intuition.

Water signs would be considered introverts, they are probably the most subtle of the elements. They are very concerned with feelings, both theirs and others - this can lead them to being

irrational at times, making decisions based on emotions alone.

Their sensitivities make them great intuitives; they sense things and have precognition. When they trust their gut instinct, they are usually right. They are at peace, and tranquil most of the time, and definitely mild-mannered. Some people can take them for being boring and monotone and even passive. But it is just not in their nature to put themselves forward. It makes them no less interesting than any other element.

Cancer does sense others vulnerabilities, they are very caring, but can also show possessive and defensive tendencies. Scorpio are very deep, but they don’t like to reveal too much about themselves, so getting to know them can be a challenge. Pisces emotions do go up and down, much like the tide of waters, and they struggle with boundaries.

At their best, Water signs are tuned into their emotions, but not being ruled by their feelings. At their worst they are self-indulgent and overly sentimental. Without an emotional

attachment, they can become aloof and detached.

One of the best ways to beat back stress, is to increase the amount of happy hormone - dopamine flooding your body. We look at effective ways to do this, so you can feel calmer, in mind, body and soul.

1. Cold Shower. Whilst a 3-minute cold shower might not seem that appealing, studies suggest that it is a great way to boost your dopamine level (maybe by as much as 250%), and reduce cortisol levels - which is the bodies stress hormone (by as much as 34%).

2. Meditation. The act of meditating has a fantastic calming response on the body. It can reduce blood pressure, lower heart rate, as well as calming us in moments of stress. Even short bursts, can increase dopamine levels.

3. Music. Taking time to play your favourite music can be very soothing. We often associate particular tunes with special occasions in our lives. Even thinking about the music playing can stimulate our brains to increase dopamine.

4. Pets. If you own a pet you will probably already have noticed the comforting and reassuring feelings that wash over you from stroking them for 15 minutes or so. The benefits are more marked when you are stroking your own pet, but some impact is seen with any pet you encounter.

5. Sunlight. In the UK getting enough access to sunlight and vitamin D can be a challenge. But spending just 30-60 minutes outdoors on a daily basis has a massive impact on the body, particularly in producing dopamine.

6. Touch. Human touch is just as impactive as touch that we discussed above with pets. Taking time to hold hands with your partner, to kiss. To hug a friend or family member all increase our dopamine levels. You cannot underestimate the power of touch to translate important feelings of love, compassion, empathy and more…

7. Vagus Nerve. Many alternative therapies like acupuncture stimulate the vague nerve. But it can also be achieved through singing and humming, even deep-breathing. The vagus nerve connects our gut, heart, lungs and brain via a cranial nerve. It is responsible for the throat, digestion, blood pressure and heart rate. Stimulating the nerve increases dopamine in the body, and in turn positively impacts all of the corresponding organs.

The headline for Moon folk in March is career. The Moon moves through the lower half of your horoscope from the 4th-16th which is powerful. You have a potent career focus and focus brings success. You have excellent financial intuition especially on the 8th & 9th. Trust your intuition; it’s a short cut to wealth. As the Sun crosses your Mid-heaven on 20th think money favours. Jupiter is with Pluto all month, happy work/job choices; even love is in the air.

Saturn crosses your mid-heaven on the 23rd and enters your career sky. This transit is basically good for the career and indicates career-related travel. Saturn is usually a trying planet, but in your case, he is more benevolent, and rules your helpful 9th house. Venus your ruler moves into your sign on the 5th and travels with Uranus (career), from 5th-9th; perhaps providing a lucky career break. Mercury in your hopes/wishes sky after 16th shows a rich month ahead.

Gemini’s are still in a yearly career peak until the 20th, even though a retrograde Mercury slows you down from the 4th-10th, you’re back on top of your world on the 16th. Mercury at the top of your chart shows success, it’s not just career, but your appearance and style, people look up to you these days. Actually, from the 10th-16th they are super-normal and your intuition is also back on track from the 16th. On the 20th the Sun in your 9th house - a beautiful transit for you, sends a luminosity of light shining through Leo’s heart!

Lovely Virgo’s are still in a yearly love/social peak until the 20th and your personal popularity is very strong. With love, you don’t do yourself any favours and tend to back away from romance too often. This is about to change after the 10th when social confidence and thinking are clarified. On 7th/8th the Sun travels with Neptune and there is a romantic opportunity with someone spiritual. It’s a day of ‘wine and roses’, when your ESP dreams, can come true!

Health-wise scale down heavy schedules, pace yourself, and get enough rest, as energy levels seem a little depleted. Focus on health more until the 20th when vitality gets back to normal. However, you have a prosperous month ahead as Jupiter travels with money planet Pluto all month. Money comes from family support, buying and selling and job offers are plentiful. On the 20th the Sun enters your love sky and you begin a yearly love and social peak. Delightful!

Scorpio’s focus is more on others than yourself just now. The cultivation of your social skills is more important than personal initiatives or professional skills. It’s like you’ve taken a vacation from yourself. Your good will come through the good grace of others. Money planet Jupiter travels with ruler Pluto, which shows prosperity.
