We support the provision of recreational facilities that are consistent with recognized coastal management principles. 2019 Annual General Meeting You are cordially invited to attend the 37 th FBA AGM Sunday 08 September 2019 10.30 am Frankston Life Saving Club Guest Speaker: Dr Chloe Leach Dr Leach is a coastal geomorphologist and numerical modeler who is interested in the medium- to long-term behaviour of coastal environments. She uses advanced modelling techniques to understand the role of driving environmental conditions in shaping the coastal system, including changing wave climate patterns and sea level rise. Understanding the response of coasts to changes in these conditions is key to predicting their future evolution and the potential impact this could have on enviro socioeconomic factors. Her current research forms part of the wider Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program (VCMP) and is focused on using innovative modelling techniques to predict the future morphodynamics of the Victorian coastline. Dr Chloe Leach Post-Doctoral Research Fellow School of Geography|Faculty of Science The University of Melbourne, Victoria Saving Our Beach Sincere thanks to our members and the community who supported the FBA campaign to save our beach from the proposed massive breakwater project at Olivers Hill. Our campaign continues. Your Committee has been involved in several meetings with Frankston City Council to strongly oppose the development of a “Safe Boat Refuge and Coast Guard Operations & Training Centre” at this location, because of likely damage to our beaches. It is the most open and weather-battered location on Port Philip Bay and most unsafe for a refuge.
