Page 26: FPB Technical Spec-1

The pillar box shall be of 3 phase (R, Y, B) arrangement. For each phase, there shall be one bus bar assembly (top) and one feeder assembly (bottom) as detailed below:

i) BUS BAR ASSEMBLY:

The bus bar assembly should consist of MS flat (75 mm x 10 mm) as base and one 50mm x 12mm. Aluminium flat which would form the current carrying main bus for the 6 way pillar box. Both ends of MS flat should be fixed rigidly to the sides of the pillars’ shell with bolts and nuts in welded cleat as shown in the sketch. The aluminium flat should be held tight horizontally and parallel to MS flat with 65mm x 12mm G.I. Bolts and Nuts, Hexagonal porcelain insulators should be provided in between the MS flat and Aluminium flat at each circuit way to keep the MS flat electrically dead. The assembly should be as shown in the sketch.

ii) FEEDER ASSEMBLY :

The feeder assembly also should consist of a MS flat of same size as in

the bus bar assembly. There should be six circuit ways in the feeder assembly. The extreme one in either side is for receiving the incoming supply and the circuit ways in between for the outgoing feeders. All these six circuit ways should be similar to each other. A 65 mm x 12mm G.I. Bolts and Nut should be inserted at each of these circuit ways perpendicularly, with a hexogonal porcelain insulator separating the MS flat and G.I. Bolt at each circuit way, so that the MS flat is made electrically dead. The assembly should be as shown in the sketch.

The two circuit ways on either extreme ends in the feeder assembly in

each phase are to the receiving points for the two incoming supplies to the pillar box. One of these two circuit ways is linked by a suitable fuse wire to the corresponding "C" piece provided (as in the sketch) in the bus bar assembly, thereby energising the aluminium bus bar with one incoming supply. With this energised common bus in each phase the required outgoing feeders can be energised by linking with a suitable fuse wire through "C" piece provided for each circuit.

The Aluminium bus bar flats shall be of electrolytic quality. All the different sizes of bolts, nuts, washers and round head G.I. screw should be galvanised perfectly. The size and dimensions of the porcelain hexagonal insulator, used in the feeder as well as in the bus bar assemblies should be one and the same as given in sketch. The insulator should be of 1.1 KV Grade.

The clamps for the incoming and outgoing circuits each with four bolts and nuts along with spring washers as per drawing shall be supplied.

(3) BUS BAR CIRCUIT ARRANGEMENTS:

of the size indicated in the sketch enclosed for receiving the incoming 240 Sq.mm.

cable as the case may be .

(2) Similarly "Z" connections of size 50 x 10 mm shall be fixed for out going circuits.

(3) Two "C" pieces of size 50 x 12 mm for 6 ways connecting fuse wire on the incoming sides shall be fixed as shown in the enclosed drawing.

(4) Similar arrangements shall be made for circuits for fixing fuses, with "C" connection of size 50 x 10 mm. (5) The "Z" connections shall be fixed with 1.5 " x 1.5" G.I. bolts with two nuts one as lock nut and the other as additional nut with 2 washers as shown in the drawing.

Hylam separators for outgoing circuits of size 100 x 6 mm of appropriate length and with suitable grooves to seat the outgoing aluminium flats must be provided. The hylam separators should be fixed to the ends of the box with MS cleats of size 45 x 30 mm with 25 x 10 mm G.I. Bolts and Nuts. The individual outgoing aluminium flats should be fixed to the hlyam sheets by 25 x10 mm G.I. Bolts and Nuts. (4) SEALING BELL ASSEMBLY/CABLE CONNECTION: Sealing bell assembly shall consist of 75 x 10 mm flat (sealing bell bar) or suitable length, held tight as shown in drawing no:1, by means of 65 x 65 mm MS cleats. The cleats shall be properly welded to the body of the shell. Necessary holes shall be provided in the flat along with clamps, bolts and nuts, check nuts, washers etc., So as to firmly clamp the cables (incoming and outgoing ) by means of semi circular cable clamps.
