Expansion Timeline

• Project evolved as part of the 2003 Master Plan Update• Runway 13 to be extended• Environmental Assessment completed in 2005• Settlement Agreement between Town (including Highway

Superintendent) and IDA signed in 2009 for closure of Thomas Road in order to allow for airport runway extension– Town Board and OCIDA Board passed resolutions and judge signed Order

approving agreement; OCIDA paid the Town $90,000 per the Settlement Agreement

• OCIDA acquired additional land necessary for the extension in 2011

Project Overview

• Project components include:– 2,300’ extension to Runway 13– 2,300’ extension to Taxiway A– 25’ widening to Runway 13-31

• OCIDA applied to FAA for a grant to design the project in February 2011– Grant was issued in

September 2011

The Design Process

• Survey and Site Analysis– Ground Survey, Aeronautical

Survey, Wetland Delineation, Geotechnical Analysis

• Preliminary Design is on-going

• Final Design Plans & Specifications anticipated for completion in March/April 2012– Based on funding availability,

phasing of the project could be considered

• Project anticipated to be let for bids in May 2012, with bids opened in June 2012

The Construction Process

• Submit application for construction grant immediately after determining low bid

• Construction would begin shortly after a grant is awarded

• Construction timeline will vary based on funding availability (project phasing) and the date a grant is offered

• Potential Construction Impacts– Closure of Thomas Road– Temporary Closure of Runway 13-

31

Community Impacts

• Construction jobs will have prevailing wages– Local labor will be utilized as often as possible

• Improved aircraft performance– Enable flights to travel longer distances non-stop

• Additional business use of airport– Several local businesses have provided letters of

support indicating increased use of the airport with the runway extension

– Additional based aircraft, charter flights, etc.

expansion in a transparent, proactive manner– Communicate the economic and community benefits of the
