    We are in a world where every now and thenpeople are enraged. Sometimes the car next toyou might pull up un-expectedly or sometimes

    it could be your work and so the list grows. The cost of these fights be it in time or

    monetary bases goes really high, and then therisk of the temper turning into something isalways there.

    Anger is a impulsive and sudden outburst ofrage usually in retaliation to some threat ofharm.

    Anger may have physical correlates such asincreased heart rate, blood pressure, and levels

    of adrenaline and noradrenaline. Some view anger as part of the fight or flight

    brain response to the perceived threat of harm.

    Three types of anger are recognized bypsychologists:

    Hasty and Sudden Anger (Joseph Butler).

    Is connected to the impulse for self-preservation.

    It is shared between humans and non-humananimals and occurs when tormented or trapped.

    Settled and deliberate anger is a reaction toperceived deliberate harm or unfair treatmentby others.

    The above two forms of anger are episodic.

    Dispositional and is related more to charactertraits than to instincts or cognitions. Irritability,sullenness and churlishness are examples of thelast form of anger.

    Anger can potentially mobilize psychologicalresources and boost determination towardcorrection of wrong behaviors, promotion of socialjustice , communication of negative sentiment andredress of grievances. It can also facilitate patience.

    Studies have shown that there are measurablebenefits to forgiveness:

    Forgiving is good for your health. Studiesshow that people who forgive report fewerhealth problems while people who blame

    others for their troubles have a higherincidence of illness such as cardiovasculardisease and cancers.

    Two studies of divorced people show thatthose who forgave their former spouse werehealthier emotionally than those whochose not to forgive. The forgivers had a higher

    sense of well being and lower anxiety anddepression.

    It is common for angry people to think, "I want toforgive, and I know I should, but I don't knowhow." Here are some starting points:

    Tip 1:Remember, forgiveness is a process that takes

    time and patience to complete. You must beready. Realize that forgiveness is for you - not

    Forgiveness is a skill that almost anyone canbenefit from. This concept is taught in almostevery quality anger management class and oneof the eight tools of anger control in theCentury Anger Management model ofintervention.

    1. You do not have to forgive all at once, it can bean organic process that happens over time.

    2. You dont have to condone what happened toyou, in fact, you can let the other person know

    how wrong they where, but then let go of yourgrudge.

    We use forgiveness as a skill in anger

    control classes because by letting goof our pain and anger we no longer

    carry the rage along with us

    everywhere we go and everyrelationship we enter. Give it a try
