averaging a huge £1446.76. Top price to MD & LK Keen whose Hereford
grossed a huge £1581.15 or 124.50p/kg with the best of James Foot’s
Simmental bulls to 129.50p/kg or £1399 with another to £1359. Consistent
prices here at Frome, your bulls are wanted.
OTM Max. 209.50p/kg & £1359 Trade on fire with top price going to W Ware & Sons once again seeing 30mo
Hereford steers to 209.50p/kg or a huge £1512. Blue steers also to 209.50p/kg
or £1359. Blue heifers from the same home flew to 203.50p/kg or £1174, Angus
heifers to 195.50p/kg or £1198 and Herefords to 203.50p/kg or £1296. 2 older
Devon heifers from SJE Wright look well sold to 180.50p/kg or £983. 2 8yr old

exceptionally well sold with leaner types in today’s average. Top of the day a
monster price at 195.50p/kg or £1434 for John Kembery’s Limousin. Other
Limousins from James Foot sold well to 149p/kg or £1187, Simmentals from the
same home to 124.50p/kg or £806. Good to see Lockerley Hall Farm of
Romsey here again with their Charolais cows storming to £1433 or 167.50p/kg.
Plenty of Dairy types on offer topping at 144.50p/kg or £1119, with others to
£1036 or 137.50p/kg. Foremore Ltd a good show of cows forward seeing
Friesians to 143.50p/kg or £958, their usual Brown Swiss soared to 135.50p/kg
or £789. Good quality Swedish Red cows from Scott & Charlie Shergold topped
at 139.50p/kg or £1037. Leaner types look well sold with most 100p/kg+. Best

Handy weights enjoyed a flyer with best to 264p/kg and £120 from Paul Crew of Shapland Farm Partners. A lot of heavier lambs forward which enjoyed a flying trade with best types to 256p/kg from Padfield & Dyke and £140 from M Maidment. CULL EWES & RAMS (120) Max £108 A smaller entry of ewes which consisted mainly of the smaller, leaner hill type ewes. Best types to £108 from CT Baker of Trudoxhill. Rams to £106 from M Maidment. Any ewes with strength and power were few and far between today but still made £85+. More ewes wanted and needed each week.
STORE LAMBS (182) Max £99.50 A cracking entry of store lambs forward which enjoyed another flying trade with best lambs to £99.50 from R Jeffery. Any lamb with power, strength and flesh all £82+. Strong lambs needed on a weekly basis.

Calved Heifers to £1730 This week should see the end of harvest and hopefully a few more numbers will come forward to enjoy this lively trade. Super cross bred calved heifers from Brian Fielding topped at a strong £1730. More good types forward from DW & CE Jones which saw their Holstein Friesian calved heifers at £1670. A nice well presented home bred calved heifer from HJ Masters & Son produced competitive bidding to £1550. Dairy black & white heifer calves generally at £100.

Generally a good sample of weaned types on offer. 4mo Hereford x steers &
heifers from J & N Proctor saw steers at £555 and heifers to £510. Angus x
continuing to create plenty of trade with 2mo steers at £402. Blue x from the same
home to £350 & £340. A smart consignment of Charolais & Blue x bulls 3 – 5mo
from BG Newman & Partners had a good trade to £398 and £430. Overall more
could have been sold to high levels today.

CONTINENTAL BULLS TO £470/CONTINENTAL HEIFERS TO £415 Plenty of well-shaped sorts saw a brisk trade from start to finish. Some medium calves saw a more selective trade. Best bulls soared past £350 to see Blue bulls twice to £470 from C & P Milton and Filer & Miller. Charolais bulls twice over £400 to top at £452 from RTJ Voizey & Partners. Best shaped heifers were well sought with strong demand from start to finish. An absolutely superb young Blue heifer sold to a fantastic £415 from RTJ Voizey & Partners. Other Blues saw top 10 all over £275, Charolais to £295 and £260 from RD Knight. Limousins to £295, £275 and £225 from Pete Turner and Simmentals to £288 from RD Knight.
NATIVE BULLS TO £385/NATIVE HEIFERS TO £272 Plenty through the ring but overall a more selective trade especially for heifers and smaller sorts. Best shaped calves sold well to see Angus bulls to £385 from WJ Weeks & Son and £345 from Pennard Farms Ltd. Hereford bulls to £280 from BG Newman & Partners. Angus heifers twice to £250 from RJ & AL Doggrell. Hereford heifers to £272 from WJ Weeks & Son.
FRIESIAN TO £148 FLECKVIEH TO £315 More forward and a firm trade for all rearing sorts. A good entry of Holsteins from Pennard Farms Ltd saw their bulls to £148, £132, £120 and £104. Norwegian and Swedish Reds from WR Phippen on offer saw best calves over £200 to top at £315 from MP & MA Hannam & Son.
The winner of the £25 for the top price Continental Sired heifer under 41 days sponsored by Howard & Sons – Kubota, was a Blue to £415 from RTJ Voizey & Partners. calf to Charolais, top at £1080. Beef Shorthorn cows to £980 and Angus cows,
in-calf to Angus, to £880 twice. Two young bulls (6mo) from Megan Paton topped
at £670.
FRIESIAN All top end older sorts today and still a marvellous trade topping at £1055 for
23mo steers from Andy and Vikki of PK Frampton. 22mo out-wintered sorts
from Bugler & Bailey flew to £980 and £878. Friesians are wanted!

ANGUS What a superb show of Angus forward here today! Topping the day up on the
podium were FJ Moody & Son whose belting 24mo steers ticked all the boxes to
£1480 with their heifers leading at £1345 and £1240. Regular supporters Lulworth
Castle were well rewarded with their 27mo steers a huge sell to £1370, £1267
and £1232. Why go anywhere else! A special mention to Mr D Gordge whose
cattle bought out of Frome as calves were a real credit to him seeing 24mo steers
to £1272 and £1185 with heifers to £1110. Bugler & Baileys Angus steers looked
well sold at £1122. Younger cattle in short supply but Ken & Neil Hayters 10mo
goods flew away, with steers to £875 and £790 and their heifers to £700 and
£615. Cattle in short supply nationally. Come to Frome to reap rewards for your
stock.
HEREFORD Herefords in short supply here today. A smart pen of 14mo suckler bred steers
from the Simmons family were well sold to £1020 and £910. 16mo heifers from
SN Ellis & Son looked exceptionally well sold to £700 and £545. A single 28mo
heifer from C & J Smart a huge £985. Herefords in tight supply; perhaps a
hangover from calf buying activity 2 years ago?

CONTINENTALS A quality top draw of cattle today with all ages in huge demand even with faces
busy on the combines. Topping today a corking Charolais 20mo from J Crew
and family which raced away to £1380 with younger steers to £1110; 20mo
heifers from the same home soared to £1168. A marvellous entry from the
Simmons family saw their 26mo Limousin x Herefords well sold to £1300 and
£1080 for steers. Usual quality from Paul and Olly Hurd were well rewarded
seeing 27mo Fleckvieh steers race away to £1295 with a lovely pen of
Parthenais heifers roaring to £1170 (27 – 31mo). 32mo Limousin heifers from C
& J Smart an excellent sell to £1180. Blue steers again from PK Frampton flew
away to £1285 (21mo) and heifers to £1050 (19mo). Philliols Farm presented
their usual quality seeing their Limousin heifers to £868 at only 15mo and £675
(9mo). Good to see Lockerley Hall Farm of Romsey here again with their
Simmental heifer racing to £705 at only 10mo. A solid 8mo Blue Steer from MJ
Ridout a real sell flying away to £845. The Kembery family presented two
gorgeous well-shaped Limousin steers which raced away to £805 (8mo). More
are needed to meet demand! Please do get in touch!
MONTHLY SALE OF BREEDING SHEEP
BREEDING EWES A super entry of breeding ewes forward which sold to a flying trade for all types.
Best ewes to £260 for pedigree Suffolk from G & J Nicol with pedigree Texel to
£202 from VM Durnford who had others at £195 and £190. Aged Charollais
ewes to £155 from Tullor Ltd. A super dispersal from Terry Mills and family of
Keevil Farm Partners sold exceptionally well with 27 North Country Mules to
£177; 1st and 2nd crop types to £155 and full mouth ewes to £136; Texel
mules, 2T, to £163. We wish you the very best of luck for the future.
Super Texel mule ewes 2T from FR Callaway & Sons enjoyed a flying trade
topping at £170. A flock dispersal from Dave Tullor and family enjoyed a
storming trade with best aged ewes to £142, with others at £123 and £120; a
super run of ewes and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Older North
Country mules from Jamie’s Farm enjoyed a storming trade with best at £132
and others at £131. Ewe lambs also enjoyed a flying trade with Suffolk mules to
£112 from Rainbow Wood with other to £108 from Jamie’s Farm. Thank you to
all vendors and purchasers for your continued support. What a day but what a
trade here at Frome!
RAMS A cracking entry for the monthly special sale with a decent line up on offer. A
nice run of Suffolk rams sold well for G & J Nicol of Stowey Bottom to £350 and
£340. A number of Texels forward to £260 for VM Durnford. Others as part of a
dispersal for Keevil Farm Partnership sold very well to £230 for full mouth
Texels and £225 for 4T. A number of older rams forward with FM Texels to
£160 from IJM Yates Farming Ltd.
