Are you looking for a Christ-centered preschool? Discovery Days Preschool, a ministry of Chapel Rock, is now enrolling students for the 2020-21 school year. As a Christ-centered preschool, we are focused on the academic, social, physical , and spiritual needs of our students. The Mission of Discovery Days is to enhance a preschool child’s development and support the child’s family through prayer, encouragement, and introduction to Chapel Rock. If you have a son/daughter or grandchild that is 18 months old (by September 1) through Pre-Kindergarten, Discovery Days may be the place for them! Classes are held Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. — 1 p.m., during the months of August through May. For further information or to schedule a tour, contact Director Carolyn Milkie, at 317-240-2065. Visit our website at discovery-days.org.

DISCOVERY DAYS ENROLLING FOR 2020-21

LEAD LINES Today is a library day for me. A couple times a month, I get out of the office and spend the day alone at one of the many fine libraries in our city. I learned this practice from the great British pastor and scholar, John Stott, who made it part of his pastoral routine; and it’s been a true blessing to me. Today, I’m on the 5th floor of the Central Library downtown. I’m literally watching a cold front come in. The tops of the Salesforce and One America buildings are completely hidden in a freezing fog. Even though the next few days will be very cold, we’re not far away from seeing the seasons change. That’s a good metaphor for this month’s column – things are ALWAYS changing. Chapel Rock is also in a season of change. Literally, as I write this, Chad and Nicole Dillon are making their way to Austria to work for TCM at Haus Edelweiss. We know that God is going to use them in a powerful way to disciple pastors from around the world. For those who may be wondering, we are not rehiring for that role and have divided up Chad’s responsibilities among various staff members and some of our rock-star volunteers (so, there’s another change). Then on Sunday, February 16, we announced that Al Michael would be retiring as our Discipleship Pastor on May 31, after 15 years of service. I’m so grateful for Al’s stable, loving leadership in the area of Christian education and groups ministry. Al and Katrina will remain part of our church body, but he will hand off his role to another. I’ve already interviewed a couple great candidates and am hoping to have that role filled soon. And another BIG change is coming up very soon! On Sunday, March 1, we will be having our first “Experiment Sunday” of the year. As I think about the Church’s future (which is our theme for the year. . . and my job), it seems likely that the models that have gotten us to where we are now may need to change in the future. So, we’re going to perform a few experiments this year and try something new. On March 1, our ENTIRE adult service is going to be in the Fellowship Hall. Like, all of it! Seriously, don’t even go to the Worship Center, unless you want to sing, pray, and preach all by yourself. The very next week, things go back to the way they were, but we need to run this experiment. We’ll get your opinion afterwards, to evaluate how it went. I think this is going to be really cool and you’ll get a big blessing from it. Wow – I just looked and I can see the tops of those buildings again! See? Always changing! I’ll see you for our first Experiment Sunday on the 1st. Come ready to learn and bring your willingness to try something new. It’s going to be awesome! Leading as I follow, Casey

Thank you! We cannot say it enough. Our last six and half years at Chapel Rock have been a huge blessing. All of you have been so friendly, generous, loving, and caring. We can truly call you our family. As we take this next step in our lives you have continued to love. Thank you for your gifts, warm wishes, and prayers. We do not feel like we are leaving Chapel Rock but increasing Chapel Rock’s work for God’s Kingdom. Thank you all! We will miss you and we will see you soon! God bless, Nicole and Chad Dillon

THANK YOU NOTE FROM THE DILLON’S

In 2020 the United States will continue an idea which was hatched in 1918. What was that idea? Daylight Saving Time! For 2020, we will ‘spring forward’ – moving our clocks ahead one hour – on Sunday, March 8. Be sure to do this before going to bed on March 7, or you may be late for church services the next morning!
