  • 2. Installation 2-1. Safety Centrifuge containing the high speed rotating part is dangerous. Follow the instruction described in this manual to avoid breakage, trouble, injury. 1) Centrifuge must be placed the horizontally flat level, In the case of tilted

shaft of rotating big vibration occurs. 2) Check the voltage before connecting power, the improper volt may cause the

damage. 3) Use only the rotor, parts and accessories supplied by the maker, which is

not responsible for any damage caused by improper parts not recommended by the maker.

    4) Ascertain the material property completely and pre-arrange safety measure in the case of handling pathogenic, toxic, radioactive material.

    5) As Centrifuge is contaminated by pathogenic, toxic, radioactive material, contaminant is to be cleared and ventilated and the isolation is needed.

    6) Volatile and explosive material should not be treated by Centrifuge. 7) Don’t operate over the approved maximum rpm of rotor. 8) Don’t diminish and stop the rotating rotor with hand. 9) Rotor must be operated after symmetrical balance work of weight 10) Rotor must be fixed to the rotating shaft exactly and lid also fixed completely. If not,

the lid may open during operation. 11) Repairing and maintenance not mentioned on this manual must be

handled by the technician with the proper curriculum (in this case the contaminant is to be cleared)

    12) In order to keep the best condition and operation of long term the chamber of rotor must be kept dry.

    13) The chemical corrosion of rotor contacting strong acid, alkaline agent of Cesium, silver, chlorine base should be avoided carefully.

  • 2-2. Location of placement To be installed on the rigid and flat level; The rotation of heavy rotor in the long period on the inclined level may cause the deformation of rotating shaft. Smooth air ventilation; Centrifuge needs 30cm of vacant space of front & rear and right & left. An airway should not be covered by the another instrument or fabric, avoid the place of heavy dust. Constant temp. & humidity; The sensitive electronic controller is affected by ambient temp. and humidity. Avoid direct sunray and heater and keep the constant temp. & humidity. No erosive gas; Avoid the place of erosive gas. Contacting sulfurous acid/ chlorine gas erodes Rotor & shaft and damage metal parts. Leveling; Shaft should be vertical exactly and Centrifuge is to be placed horizontally with flatness measuring device.

  • 2-3. Check list Don’t open door manually during rotating rotor, don’t use emergency door open device except the emergent case. Rotating speed of rotor should not exceed the allowed max speed. The rotor is designed to endure only with the allowed influencing power. If RCF exceeds the allowed tensile strength, the rotor shall break or be deformed. Circuit breaker; Lightning or over voltage activates circuit breaker, cut off fuse and power supply to protect main body. Door lock device; Door sensor lets rotor stop in the case of open door and Centrifuge doesn’t operate at the status of door open. Auto door lock device doesn’t allow door open during operation without manual opening of door. Abnormal vibration; As rotating rotor vibrates seriously over the limited standard off balance and Accordingly motor shakes, the relevant sensor detects the abnormality and the rotation stops according to the pre-arranged deceleration interval. This safety device avoid the unexpected danger & damage during operater’s absence with the continuous operation of Centrifuge.

  • 2-4. Electrical requirements Ascertain the rated voltage on the label of Centrifuge. Unclear power supply of using should be checked again with the local electric power supplier or our A/S center. Warning ; Centrifuge must connect to ground. -Centrifuge contains plug with earth pin which can be inserted into the grounded receptacle. Using receptacle without earth must be replaced to grounded receptacle, during this work user must be careful not to get electric shock with the assistance of electrician. Avoid the receptacle without grounding. -In the case of error the emergency switch is located at the exit door side or outside of laboratory, a remote area from Centrifuge to cut off power supply.

-The safety distance 30 cm from Centrifuge must be kept and any breakable unit is moved away according to IEC61010-2-020 regulation. Electric safety ° The power cord offered with Centrifuge is used only. ° Connect power supply. ° Don’t use the extended power code. Checking out grounded receptacle is to be done by electrician.

° Failure of earth work may cause the electric shock. ° Another instrument should not step on the power code. ° Ventilation hole should not be covered by any material. ° Switch off power supply, pull off power code from receptacle, contact A/S center in the

below cases. -Abnormal noise or smell -Worn out or damaged power code - Cut off wall mounted circuit breaker, fuse, another safety devices - Spilt over liquid or water on Centrifuge - Damaged part

  • 3. Checking Opeaon 3-1. Feature

3-2. Structure ① Door; to protect the internal chamber and erupting rotor ② Locking hook ③ Peeping hole; to check rpm by the digital speed meter ④ Chamber ⑤ Door packing; ⑥ Rotor ⑦ Control board ⑧ On/off switch ⑨ Emergency door open device; manually open door on power failure, etc.

  • 2) Internal structure of chamber ① Chamber; to protect erupting rotor ② Motor cover; intruding foreign substance into motor ③ Motor shaft

Don’t grab the edge side of door to avoid any possible injury. Put hands on the door cover and press and check the complete closing to Operate

  • 3-3 Rotor

    - Wipe the motor shaft and hole of rotor with fabric before installation

    - As tighten rotor with motor shaft, temp. of rotor & motor should be 10~30℃

    - Put rotor on the motor shaft tighten clockwise with hexagonal wrench In the case of release screw wrench to the counter direction

    1) Weight loading on rotor - Put tubes symmetrically on rotor, only recommended tubes are workable.

    - The weight difference between sample tubes must be minimized to diminish noise and extend durability

    - Locate tubes of same type for the stability of Centrifuge -

    * Use only rotor/tube/adapter recommended by the manufacturer * Check the proper tube-rack insert and smooth motion * Don’t use the eroded motor of visibly mechanical failure 2) Tube arrangement

Same volume of sample must be put in tubes after precise measuring and arrange the symmetrical insert to rotor. In the case of difference per each symmetrically arranged samples heavy vibration occurs, which may damage the shaft. Despite the same q’nty of tubes the location of tubes may be dissymmetrical. Adapters’ tube location facing each other also must be checked the proper location. In the case of dissymmetrical location caused by the variation of tube q’nty newly added tube may make the equilibrium. Use a scale to minimize the weight difference of sample tubes.

In the case of spin down lean tubes’ lids against the edge of rotor and

  • Ascertain the sameness of tubes and close the rotor lid. This instruction must be applicable for using tubes provided by the kit manufacturer.

    Swing bucket rotor

Check the internal cleanness of bucket and wipe out the foreign material with dry fabric. In the case of two buckets check the hanging status on rotor and do swing test manually. Rotor must be inserted with the symmetrical location of adapter, plate, tubes. In the case of different weight of sample of symmetrically located the heavy vibration by unbalance rotation may result in the damage of rotor & shaft.

  • Safety label

    Danger & alarm

    Danger of electric shock

Warning! The dissymmetrical placement of rotor causes injury Check rotor connection, rotor closing tubes’ location carefully before start -Place tubes of same type symmetrically

-Use the adequate tubes with adapter -Use always homogeneous tube (same Weight, material property, dendity,

    Volume)

    Warning

Loads must be located symmetrically shock

Warning Don’t impact during rotation. ,

  • 3-4. Function check Test maximum speed of rotor. Check whether Centrifuge works at the door opened situation and door may open during operation. 3-5. Operation detail 1) Control panel description

  • 2) Save and call program

    3) Call/input program

    4) Input RPM/RCF

    5) Input Time

    6) Short Run mode

  • 7) Simulation Set value of simulation; SL50-4(No.1), 4,000 RPM, 3 min is set in PROG No.3.

  • 4. Wash & Maintenance

Emergency open Activate the emergency door open device manually in the case of power failure.

    1) Off power switch, await till rotor stops.

    2) Insert 5mm T wrench into the hole on the right flank side and turn clockwise to open door.

    4-1. Cleaning 1) Exterior

    - Clean the surface with soft & dry fabric. In the case of heavy contamination wipe out with soft soapy cloth and use dry cloth to remove water.

    - Don’t use chemicals like alcohol, benzene, thinner which may damage Centrifuge. Use neutral detergent of sound quality.

    - Don’t make any scratch with hard & sharp material like metal brush and move cautiously to avoid rust.

    - Remove rust from humidity for long period with the netural detergent and wipe out with dry fabric.

  • 2) Interior - Remove and clean periodically frost of rotor & chamber for the efficient

    cooling.

    - Off power switch and remove frost with dry cloth - Clean the chamber with soaked sponge or cloth and dry completely after

    removing frost. 3) Shaft

    - Shaft must be kept clean, the unstable rotation by contaminant of shaft causes imbalance.

    - Take rotor out of shaft and clean with dry fabric to remove water after operation and keep dry.

    - Weight of rotor causes deformation of shaft, which must be separated and cleaned and kept upside down.

    - As rotor tightly sticks with shaft, don’t remove forcibly, only use the specialized rotor removing tool.

    4) Rotor ① Corrosion & surface treatment

    - Acid or basic agent causes damage. Imbalance of rotor weight by corrosion incurs heavy vibration & noise, eventually the physical damage.

    - Anti-corrosive rotor may be affected by humidity, salt content and impurity in air.

    - Rotor is resistant to neutral aqueous solution like carbonate, chromate, acetate and sulfide, but not to chloride agent. Also corrosion gets faster By increase of hydrogen ion content and eroded by sulfuric and phosphoric and faster in hydraulic acid.

    ② Maintenance

    - Cleaning; remove sample in tube with soft fabric soaked with warm water avoid scratch on the specially treated rotor surface.

    - Drying; dry narrow groove of rotor, more efficiently with hair-drier. - Keeping; Clean & dry place, separate lid of angle and keep upside down. ③ Sterilization of rotor Every rotor, lid, bucket adapter can be sterilized at 121℃ for 20 min.

  • 4-2. Maintenance 1) Check & clean rotor frequently 2) General check points

Shaft & hub; Don’t separate hub and bent shaft, check abrasion. Motor bearing; Check noise and the smooth rotation Control board; Check bolt connection and functioning Power supply; Check whether connection is loosened. Rotor; Check crack, cleanness, abrasion.

    3) RPM Install rotor and set RPM, count the actual RPM with tachometer.

    4) Time Set 10 min and count the actual time with stop watch.

    5) Detecting Imbalance In the case of imbalanced rotor, check whether the lamp of imbalance is on with alarm sound.

    6) Door locking device Door should not open during operation.

    7) Disposal Centrifuge should not be scraped as the waste of house hold and only disposed according to the local environmental regulation.
