The evening is designed for parents to meet the teachers and to discover what their students will be learning throughout the school year. Curriculum Night gives teachers an opportunity to connect with parents and establish ways for continued communication during the school year. Curriculum Night does not allow enough time to address everyone’s specific concerns. If necessary, please make an appointment to conference with your teacher at a later date. Please note that this event is for PARENTS ONLY and there is no childcare available. The expectation is that no children be in attendance. We are sorry for this inconvenience. The schedule for the evening is attached to page 4 of this newsletter so you can plan accordingly. We look forward to seeing you there! FIRST CHAPEL IS SEPT. 4, at 8:35 a.m. PARENTS ALWAYS WELCOME! FIRST WALK-A-THON ORANGE SLIP DUE SEPT. 4 Trinity Christian School’s 2019 Walk-a-Thon is Saturday, Sept. 21, right here at Trinity, 8:00-10:00 a.m. We are excited about reconnecting after summer by meeting new families, faculty and staff at one of our biggest fundraising events of the year. The celebration BASH will be outside from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. immediately following the Walk-a-Thon award ceremony. This is a fun time to fellowship with TCS families and the committee has planned an exciting day with a variety of lawn games, jumpy obstacles and water balloons. We are selling popcorn. KONA Ice will be here again with refreshing snow cones, and it gets even better… 20% of the profit goes back to TCS! We anticipate an awesome morning! TCS RUN, WHITE & BLUE 5K

JOIN OUR COMMITTEE!!

The TCS 5k Committee is looking for motivated team members who want

to earn volunteer hours on their own time all year long. Positions needed: Advertising – go to local businesses

and ask for permission to display our posters or postcards. Networking - looking for ways to get our local schools

and businesses involved with our race either through registrations, donations or sponsorships. Research – reach

out to local races in our area to see if they will put our postcards in their swag bags. Have other special skills you’d

love to share with our team? Contact Mrs. Carrie Pilon at [email protected] and let her know how you’d like to

get involved. Get ready to RUN, WALK, CHEER & VOLUNTEER!!

AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES We are offering After School Enrichment Activities to challenge your child in a variety of areas. This year we will have Lego Club, taught by Mrs. Virginia Hayward, Director of Education. Lego Club combines kids’ favorite toy with creative and challenging learning activities in the areas of coding, robotics, physics and engineering! Please view the classes, choose the one you are interested in and log into Smart Tuition to pay and complete your registration. Class information is on page 5 of this newsletter. Flyers were also sent home with students recently.

There are also two classes being offered by an outside organization, Afterschool Enrichment Solutions. For fall, they are running Chess Scholars, as well as a STEM course in robotics. Please see the flyers on pages 6 and 7 for class dates and registration instructions. Flyers will also be sent home with students soon.

ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOKS BACKORDERED In case you did not know, this year’s order of assignment notebooks is backordered. We will hand them out to your students

as soon as possible, once we receive the order.

Also, did you know? You do not need to make a separate purchase for assignment notebooks. The cost is already included

as part of your student’s educational costs, for students in 3rd-8th grade.

FIRST SPIRIT GEAR DAY IS SEPTEMBER 6! September 6 is the first Spirit Gear Day of the school year! What is Spirit Gear? Any kind of shirt or sweatshirt that has our

school’s name on it! It can be from a summer camp, the Shorewood Parade, an event, or one that you purchased. Students

wear a Spirit Gear top with their uniform bottoms. A Spirit Gear Day is different from a dress-down day, so no jeans or other

pants or skirts please. Usually, the first Friday of the month is a Spirit Gear Day. Occasionally there are some exceptions so

be sure to look at the online calendar and the school newsletter for the most current information.

ORDER OCTOBER HOT LUNCH BY SEPTEMBER 14 Order October hot lunch, Sept. 3 - 14. The menu is available online Sept. 3. All orders must be placed and paid for by the end of the day. You can find information about the hot lunch program at our website: www.trinitychristian.info/parents/hot-lunch-ordering

Every Wed., 9:30-10:30 a.m., we get together to pray. This is right after chapel each week. Come to

Moms in Prayer for our first meeting, Sept. 4, as we pray for our school, teachers and staff, students and

our Trinity families. There is no pressure to pray out loud, just a prayerful heart is needed. We do have

childcare upon request. Please contact Mrs. Julie Freund at [email protected] or Mrs. Lisa Kuehn at

[email protected]. All moms, dads and grandparents are welcome! Come and see how much

prayer makes a difference!

WEDNESDAYS AFTER CHAPEL

HELP STUDENTS IN 2ND-6TH GRADE LEARN TO TYPE Hello Parents! This year, students in 2nd through 6th grade are working with TypingClub in the classroom and at home. TypingClub is an educational program to help students learn to type quickly and accurately on a standard computer keyboard. The program is fully web-based, so students can use it to practice keyboarding in class, at home, or anywhere an internet connection can be found.

To log in to your child’s TypingClub account, go to the following login URL: https://tcsshorewood.typingclub.com

Username: First Name then First Letter of Last Name (no spaces) Example: AmberP Password: Stud3nt

If you would like to help at home, the most important thing for your child to focus on is to avoid looking at the keyboard while typing.

Miss Polly, our computer teacher, is very excited to share TypingClub with you and to work toward developing your child's keyboarding skills. Together, we can help perfect a skill set that will be indispensable to your child in the future. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Polly at [email protected].

RECOGNIZING

STUDENT BIRTHDAYS

We like to celebrate student

birthdays each week at chapel.

Birthdays are usually recognized

from Sunday through Saturday of a week.

Students with summer birthdays are

recognized on their half birthdays. If a

student has a birthday over a holiday break,

that birthday is recognized before the break.

For our first chapel, we recognize every

student who had a birthday from the first

day of school through Sept. 7. Each student

being honored receives a bookmark and

pencil.

This year’s chapel theme...
