President’s Perspective Could it be that another ski season is
quickly coming to a close? For all the
complaining I hear about winter lasting
forever in CNY, as a skier, it does seem
to go by pretty fast. Hopefully we still
have a couple good weeks left to enjoy
the snow! Then we’ll be ready for spring.
Speaking of spring, it’s time for our
annual ski banquet! This has grown
over the past few years and is a fun,
lively evening. I hope you are planning
to join us at The Sunset on Sunday,
April 7. Please RSVP by April 1 to
reserve your spot – you don’t want to
miss the good food, awards, slideshow
from the past year, and booby prizes.
By all reports, the club’s big trip to
Sun Valley was a big success. Good
snow and lots of fun. Thanks to Dan C.
for a job well done. 2020 trips will be
announced in the next couple of months.
Stay tuned!
At our annual club meeting in March,
we updated the by-laws, voted in our
new board, and adopted a club Code of
Conduct. Welcome to our new incoming
board members, and many thanks to
those who have completed their service.
It’s always good to have “new blood”
come on board to keep us on our toes
and help us make improvements to the
club. We’ll pass the torch at the May 7
board meeting; all club members are
invited to attend.
Enjoy these last days of skiing!
Kelly Buck

Sun Valley Trip Summary
March 2-9, 2019 Trip Leader: Dan Cannucciari
Thirty two members of the club made the trip to Sun Valley, Idaho on
March 2nd, 2019. Twenty nine members flew from CNY. Two members came from California and
one from Washington State. We all found the deluxe condos at Sun Valley Lodge to be superlative
with large rooms, gas fireplaces, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Very comfortable
with easy bus transfer to Bald Mountain each morning and afternoon.
We skied Sunday March 3rd and found Sun Valley to have plenty of snow and very steep runs. Even
the green trails would be classified as black at many other ski areas. Sun Valley also prides itself on
straight runs top to bottom. That same day, we had a welcome party in the Sun Valley Inn and
Conference Center with wine, beer, and finger foods. Our club was there together with clubs from
Ann Arbor, Michigan and a group from Rochester, NY.
We wish Mike Jones a speedy recovery after hitting a mound of snow at speed and fracturing his
acetabulum (hip bone).

Code of Conduct
All members of the Finger Lakes Ski Club (hereafter known as the FLSC) shall be bound by the
following Code of Conduct when participating in Club activities and events where there is member
interaction. The Code of Conduct is a detailed description of ethical behavior that is expected of all
FLSC members. Our goal is to ensure that all FLSC members experience an atmosphere of trust and
respect while participating in FLSC trips, events and activities.
A. Members have a right to:
1. Be treated fairly, equally and with respect by the organization and other members.
2. Participate in activities and socialize in an environment free from all forms of harassment and
discrimination.
3. Privacy and confidentiality concerning records, documentation and any other communication
containing a member’s personal information, unless consent is otherwise provided.
4. Be informed of all club events and offerings.
5. Voice their opinions and suggestions to the Board of Directors, either by email or in person.
B. Members must:
1. Treat other members, guests, staff at venues and other patrons (where a club function is being
held) fairly, equally and with respect and courtesy.
2. Behave responsibly and conduct oneself in a manner which will not prejudice the best interest of
the FLSC, its events, organizers, participants or sponsors.
3. Not physically or verbally harass others at FLSC events, whether they are members or non-
members.
4. Abide by the bylaws of the FLSC and this Code of Conduct.
5. Not use their membership privileges to purchase tickets to any event or other offering, including
lift tickets, for non-members of the club except when that outside participation is specifically allowed.
6. Be responsible for their own personal belongings and mindful of others' belongings by not
removing or relocating these belongings without permission of the member or non-member.
7. Adhere to the guidelines of use of rental property, private or public, at events, and on trips
sponsored by FLSC.
8. Refer any issues or problems on trips related to suppliers or other service providers to the trip
leader and to not interfere with the authority of that trip leader.
9. Take responsibility for their own personal comfort and safety by politely asking any person
whose behavior is not appropriate or is threatening to refrain from such behavior. Anyone who feels
uncomfortable in confronting a person directly should report the inappropriate behavior to the event
leader, FLSC president and/or vice president for action and follow-up.

C. Breaches of this Code of Conduct:
FLSC members who violate the terms of this Code may be subject to disciplinary action by the Board
of Directors, up to and including suspension from the Club, as listed below:

FLSC may be asked to leave the function and will not be entitled to a refund of any monies paid.
2. Any member not acting in accordance with the terms of the Code of Conduct at an FLSC
sponsored event may be prohibited from attending future events.
3. The Board of Directors will investigate all reported incidents thoroughly. The penalty of any
infraction of the above codes may lead to having one’s membership suspended or revoked either
temporarily or permanently. This may also include loss of privileges to a specific club activity, or all
privileges, and is to be determined by the discretion of the Board of Directors. In addition, the Board
shall retain the right to decline a specific event application, for any person
a) who has violated the FLSC Code of Conduct or
b) whose behavior may impede the operation of an event or
c) whose behavior may result in a detriment to other participants at the event
